The initiative, Teaching Moments with VISNA’s President, provides residents with free health information through flyers, videos, radio features, and social media content. The programme is designed to make essential medical guidance easier to understand and apply in everyday situations.

The initiative will address certain health issues

According to a press release, VISNA nurses use the initiative to educate the public on issues such as asthma management, fracture care, senior health, patient empowerment, and preventive healthcare.

VISNA President Dr Suzette Z. Lettsome said the programme allows nurses to serve the public outside traditional clinical environments.

“Education is one of the most powerful forms of prevention,” Lettsome said. “Teaching Moments with VISNA’s President allows nurses to extend their impact beyond clinical settings and into homes, families, and communities.”

She said timely information can help residents recognise warning signs, make informed decisions, and take steps to avoid serious health complications.

Support needed to maintain & grow program 

The release added that the Association is now appealing to individuals, businesses, and community organisations to help maintain and grow the programme. Additional support would allow VISNA to produce more educational materials, reach a wider audience, and address other health concerns affecting residents.

“Every flyer, every video, and every message shared has the potential to prevent emergencies, improve outcomes, and empower families,” Lettsome said. “With the support of our community, we can continue this important work.”

VISNA said the programme remains free to the public so that families can access trusted health education regardless of their financial circumstances.
