CHRISTIANSTED, ST Croix, USVI- In a frightening late-night incident, the owner of Yamasa Bar in Peter's Rest was robbed at gunpoint and her car stolen. The theft occurred outside the bar around 12:40 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Police were dispatched to meet the proprietor at another nearby establishment shortly after the incident, where she communicated her ordeal to the officers.

According to the victim, she was standing next to her white 2015 Honda Civic, which was parked outside her bar, when a black compact car approached. The passenger of the black car, his face concealed with a t-shirt, got out holding a silver gun. He aimed the weapon at her head and demanded the keys to her vehicle.

Fearing for her life, the woman promptly handed over her car keys. The armed man then got into her Honda Civic and sped off, heading south. The black compact car that the suspect arrived in drove off in the opposite direction.

Following the harrowing episode, the woman opted to close and secure her establishment for the remainder of the night.

The stolen vehicle contained not just the woman's personal items, but also a quantity of cash and her cell phone, she informed the police. Fortunately, she was not physically injured during the robbery.

Local authorities are actively investigating the case and urge anyone with information to come forward.
