ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Popular US publisher US News has listed the Virgin Islands among the Top 11 ‘Most relaxing Beaches’ in the world and it seems many overwhelmingly agree.

And according to the website, crowds, noise and proximity to things like amusement parks, casinos and airports can detract from a beach's zen ambiance and US News considered these factors – in addition to reader feedback and insight from travel experts – to determine the most relaxing beaches the world has to offer.

It also gave readers an option to agree or disagree on whether any of its choices belonged on the list.

The Virgin Islands received the most ‘Yes’ of all the other choices– 369 while 42 disagreed.

The other destinations listed were Fiji, Kauai, Anguilla, Bora Bora, Seychelles, Hawaii- The Big Island, Corfu, Santorini, Lana’i, and Barbados.

Receiving the second most ‘Yes’ was Kauai- 201. 67 disagreed.

According to US News, The [British] Virgin Islands are some of the most exclusive and least developed islands of the Caribbean, but this only adds to their appeal. “The resorts, villas, restaurants and other tourist attractions in this paradise are known to emphasise spare luxury over sprawling expansion, and they attract travelers with deep pockets and a love for sailing and seclusion.

“On Tortola, you'll find mountainous cliffs and chalk white beaches, characterised by changing tides and calm easterly winds. A brief sail away, sleepy Jost Van Dyke offers delicious Caribbean food and drink, one of the region's best New Year's Eve parties, as well as a few outdoor excursions like diving and fishing. On Virgin Gorda, you'll find The Baths, perhaps the most picturesque shore in the British Virgin Islands, and with good reason: It offers unique grottoes amidst gigantic granite boulders (just be mindful of the daytripping crowds). For supreme seclusion, try Anegada; its slow pace, flat terrain and sparkling sand lies almost overlooked in Caribbean Sea.”

It further said the Virgin Islands host numerous remote beaches. Standouts include Brewers Bay and Cane Garden Bay on Tortola, and Devil's Bay on Virgin Gorda. “But the truth is, just about any BVI stretch of sand will bolster the "get-away-from-it-all" mentality.”

Only a week ago, Fox News Travel rated Virgin Gorda among the most beautiful Caribbean islands.

Yes so true. But no BVI beach is nice when overun with American cheese...its like trailer trash with millions....
and they so do look and act alike...a sad dilemma for sure. Or just a yeast infection.

much of the trash and dirt doesn't come from "American cheese", much of the trash is local, people who don't know how to clean up after themselves let alone know how to recycle. Americans do. Neither do Cruise ship passengers have "millions". To most, this is the biggest trip they will take in their lives. The problem is they neither spend nor are return visitors. WE are wasting our natural resources trying to cater to cruise tourists. The government doesn't understand this. They are off catering to the really wealthy with private jets on VG. It is Government that has to lay the boundaries about use or lose the whole thing to greed.

That is truly an insult to the tourist industry. As a visitor, most of us spend long hours on airplanes and money to spend in your hotels and this is the thanks we get. That comment about yeast infection is just plain out disgusting. Just remember, potential visitors is reading your comment and will opt to spend their money at another Caribbean desternation.

The media, you gotta love them. They use the same pictures when calling us " tax havens." They say "least developed Islands of the Caribbean" and yet an International Financial Centre. How dare we progress beyond the perception of 'grass huts' without 'their' permission. Funny how that works.
