MIAMI, Florida, USA - The two daughters of Ex-Premier of the Virgin Islands (VI) Andrew A. Fahie may not be able to travel to Tortola to attend the funeral of their maternal grandfather, while Mr Fahie is awaiting trial in Florida on drug charges, a District Court judge has ruled.

In a motion filed last Thursday, May 4, 2023, the St Thomas News Source has reported that Fahie sought to modify the conditions of his $1 million bond to allow his daughters to travel to the [British] Virgin Islands for the celebration of life of their grandfather, Winston Theodore Herbert.

As a condition of their father’s bond, the Fahie daughters were required to surrender their VI and US passports and not go near any airports.

However, they were seeking permission to travel for the event scheduled for May 27, 2023, at the Upper Room Victory Church on Tortola, and to spend time with their mother, not to exceed seven days.

Fahie still in daughters' apartment

Mr Fahie has been confined to his daughter's two-bedroom Miami apartment and under GPS monitoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week since he was released on bail last June following his April 28, 2022 arrest.

“Additional details regarding dates of travel, and the length of stay (not to exceed one week) will be provided to the Government and Pretrial Services prior to departure. Upon returning to the United States, the Fahie Daughters will surrender their passports in accordance with the travel restrictions under the Bond Order,” the motion stated.

Recently, the court had modified the conditions of his detention to allow him to leave for doctor appointments and visits with his lawyer as his July 17 trial date nears.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, Judge Kathleen M. Williams of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida denied Fahie’s motion to modify the conditions of his bond to allow his daughters to travel. The order was delivered in a one-line entry on the court docket.

Why is it nonsense? They are a part of the bond agree. fahie and his his daughters agreed to it. If they want/ need a break from the agreement then he can be remanded to prison for the time needed

Some wish Fahie the worse and think this setup is the end of him but God has the last say. We will keep him and his family in our Prayers.

When are you going to understand, he is the one that set himself up. Andrew was under surveillance when he put the woman that is facing trial also to run ports. He got in the mess that he is in for being greedy. The hammer fell when he stepped on the private jet which happens to be owned by the FEDS AND MADE CONTACT WITH THE MARKED MONEY ON US SOIL. If this had taken place in the BVI, he would have gotten a pass and business would have continued as usual. He is going to serve time in Federal prison in the US and West Bank is going to serve time in a Federal prison in the US.

You cannot be wrong and strong at the same time. Fahie is paying for not only selling out and bringing shame to the territory He has to also pay for other things that he had done on the Island and plenty of people knows exactly what I am talking about.

Sorry they lost a family member, but too bad you cant travel. You agreed to the bail conditions so you have to abide by them. If they want to travel then let him sit in jail until they return

I feel sorry for the girls, as for him and his wife I don’t. The girls should not have to be restricted due to what he is accused of. My sister lives in the same neighborhood in Florida, it’s a nice area but the apartments is not that big. Can you imagine 4 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment? I often wonder if the girls can go to the mall freely or have their college friends over ETC… without being monitored.

The wise move was too make that deal and take that deal from the Start. Free your family from all of this, save your money and you would have already spent half of your 3 yr term.. Bare in mind that 9 months is a year in Prison...

...taken him back into custody and then returned their passports. Once they came back and gave up their passports Big Andy could go back to the apartment.

It really a shame that these girls have to miss their grandfather funeral. I wonder how Fahie feels that because of his actions that his girls have to miss their beloved grandfather's funeral. Such a shame.

Can you imagine everywhere you go you are being monitored by the Feds? If his daughters is allowed to fly to the BVI they will have to be escorted by the Feds and the Feds is not going to spend their resources on that. Can you imagine sitting cooped up all day in a tiny apartment with a electronic monitor bracelet? Can’t even open the front door or take a walk around the block for some fresh air.

America does not discriminate anyone that step on their soil but if you are caught doing shady things and get caught, you are going to pay the price. When Andrew is released from prison in the US, he will be deported back to Tortola a broken man that can never set foot back on US soil he can’t even go to ST.Thomas. What a shame.

Say what you know! Only certain people in America pay the price when they do shady things and get caught!! And yes, they do discriminate against those who step on their soil! if not overtly, then covertly!

You need to research before you post. He won’t be forever barred from going back to the U.S. More than likely he’ll be able to apply and re-enter after a period of time.
If he’s exonerated however, he won’t have that to worry about.

It is rather sad what these children are going through. I feel really badly for them. We need to realize as parents when we do certain things our actions don’t just affect us, they affect our families. That’s life, it sucks to have to learn important life lessons the hard way. My condolences to the family, and I wish them all the best.
