ROSEAU, Dominica- BVI Netball Club emerged victorious in their first game at the friendly Tri-Series in Dominica on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The game, played against Celtic at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, saw Team VI win 27-13. Shaquille Rose scored 17 goals from 27 attempts, Clita Russel scored 6 goals from 10 attempts, and Mandi J. Atak scored 4 goals from 14 attempts.

Scoring for Celtics were Akeelah Daisy with 6 goals from 14 attempts, Melissa Williams with 3 goals from 12 attempts, and Nyabel Pacquette scored 3 goals from 10 attempts.

Speaking to local media following the match, coach Mandi J. Atack said she did not anticipate such an easy win.

“We actually didn’t know what was going to come out. Dominica as a whole, the BVI have never played, whether national or clubs, so we actually came out to give it our best to see what they could come out with.”

She added that she is happy to see Netball's rejuvenation in the VI.

“It’s been a sport of my life for a very long time [and] to then come across to the BVI and for it to not be there was kind of disheartening, but we were given the opportunity, we took it, so I’m very proud of the people who were involved back in the BVI that made us get this far and hopefully get further.”

First match was a tester

Atak said that while the team is confident coming off the win, she knows Dominica has a lot more to offer. The first match, she added, was a "tester" to see what they had, leading up to the final match against Dominica’s national champions.
