ORANJESTAD, St Eustatius- The Virgin Islands women’s netball team, Ursulas, had a tough opening game of the Battle of the Isles tournament in St Eustatius today, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, losing 35-49 to the hosts at Earl N. Merkman Sports Auditorium in Oranjestad.

The visitors trailed 6-15 at the end of the 1st quarter, 16-29 at the end of the second quarter, and 27-38 at the end of the 3rd quarter, as their younger and quicker opponents outhustled them.

The VI found some rhythm late in the 3rd quarter and in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter but St Eustatius, riding the loud support of their home fans, found another gear to finish strong.

St Eustatius (Statia) went into the game with much to play for after being blown out by Canada, 21- 75, last evening.

Ursulas now have the task of playing Canada at 6:15 PM today.

Your comment insinuate stupidity. Whist the ‘born here’ is not interested in Netball the ‘work here’ are. These players could be representing their home countries, instead they decide to represent the beautiful British Virgin Islands.

Now shut up and watch the BVI Netball team bring home the championship.

Imagine people going away to represent your country abroad and you ungrateful lazy bunch asking if them born here strpz.

If you that concerned of the team nationality get your 200 pound backside up and create teams consisting of bvi nationals and find funding to train and bring those teams abroad to represent bvi luv and pride.

Don't mind the noise sakena you doing good. Make us proud

  • Tough match for the Ursulas, but hey, it's just the first game. They gotta learn from it and come back stronger. Anyway, if you need a break from netball, check out this quick game to test your speed—might help take your mind off it!
