VI show heart against Guatemala & DR in CONCACAF U15 C/ships in Aruba

The Virgin Islands U15 Boys’ National Football Team has so far faced tough opponents but put in a spirited performance in their League B, Group F games so far at the CONCACAF Football Championships in Aruba.

The VI Boys played their opening game on August 4, 2025, against powerhouse Guatemala and were beaten by a 1-9 scoreline.

Coach Cass still proud

Head Coach Ms Cassandra Gregg aka ‘Coach Cass’ reflected on the match, acknowledging the stark size difference between the two teams. “It was always going to be a challenge, but our focus was on letting the boys enjoy the game while still competing hard,” Coach Cass said. “I’m proud of how they performed.”

While pleased with the team’s effort, Cass noted that there are areas for growth — particularly in defensive play. “We need to address the issue of defenders pulling up and work on tightening our back line,” she explained. “That’s something we’ll be focusing on in training.”

The VI’s lone goal came from Noah Salt.

The visitors then faced the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and were defeated 0-4.

Their final group game will be against St Kitts and Nevis at 2:00 PM today, August 6, 2025.
