UPDATE: VG sexual assault - Teacher; four minors charged with indecent assault

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - In a release issued by the Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, December 5, 2012 it was stated that a male teacher and four male students were charged in relation to a reported incident at the Bregardo Flax Educational Centre Secondary Division in Virgin Gorda where two minor females were indecently assaulted.

Carlton Herbert, 30, of South Valley, Virgin Gorda and the four minors were charged with indecent assault, indecency with a child and gross indecent among other charges.

No date was given for when the five were scheduled to appear in court.  The RVIPF, through its Family and Juvenile Unit, continue their investigation into the matter.

Previously, the RVIPF had reported that it was investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving minors on Virgin Gorda. This was stated in press release issued by the RVIPF on December 3, 2012.

"Following speculation in the media, the Acting Press Officer of the RVIPF, Sergeant Carl Mason, has confirmed today that the RVIPF are currently investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving minors, said to have taken place on Virgin Gorda," the press release stated.
