UPDATE: Two detainees released in shooting investigation
This was confirmed by RVIPF Public Relations Officer Mr Carl Mason, today August 26, 2014 in a comment to this news site. He said that the two persons were not charged and police are continuing their investigation.
The early morning shooting incident and attempted robbery have left a man hospitalized nursing gunshot wounds.
However, hospital sources could not confirm if the man remains a patient at the Peebles Hospital as a matter of safety and security precautions.

BAUGHER'S BAY, Tortola, VI - Informed and reliable sources and the Police Public Relations Department of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) have confirmed a shooting incident on Free Bottom Road in Baugher's Bay in the early morning hours of today August 23, 2014.
The incident has reportedly left one man hospitalized at the Peebles Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to a leg. It is alleged that the man was in a car when he was shot and robbed.
Two persons are confirmed by the RVIPF to be in police custody assisting with investigations.
Police in a press release minutes ago said: "In response to a report of a shooting [in Baugher's Bay] on Tortola at 03.10 this morning, Officers of the RVIPF found a Hispanic male nearby who appeared to have been shot in the leg.
The Officers established that the victim had been approached by two men in a white car who demanded money before hitting him on the head with what appeared to be a handgun and then shooting him in the leg.
A description of the offenders was promptly circulated to patrols and a short time later two men were arrested and taken to Road Town Police Station on suspicion of attempted robbery.
The victim was taken to Hospital where he remains in a stable condition for observations. A single 40 calibre spent shell casing was recovered at the scene and is undergoing forensic examination."
