ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The two men who were allegedly caught red handed attempting to free the dolphins at Dolphin Discovery on December 22, 2014 have been slapped with criminal charges.

While no date has been released as to when the two will have to answer to the charges of criminal damage and criminal trespass, the Public Relations Department of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has confirmed the men as Phillipe Lamoureux, 41, and Tremblay Alain, 44, both Canadian citizens.

As first and accurately reported by this news site, the two who are said to be closely affiliated to the organization Green Peace were caught red handed by on-duty security guards of Leonard and Associate Security Services Ltd., and subsequently arrested by ranks of the RVIPF as they attempted the daring act.

The incident was confirmed by the Manager of Dolphin Discovery on Tortola, Mr Emmanuel Gilbert who had declared, “…We are all ok.”

The RVIPF’s Public Relations Department subsequently issued a press release on the matter.

See previous story pubished on December 29, 2014:

2 animal activists broke into dolphin compound & tried to free dolphins

- it is alleged that the two Caucasian males are from Canada and could be linked to Greenpeace

PROSPECT REEF, Tortola, VI – This news site has confirmed that at least two Caucasian males believed to be animal activists from the organization Greenpeace broke into the Swim with the Dolphins compound and allegedly attempted to break free the sea animals.

This according to one of our sources took place a few days shy of Christmas Day and was said by the source, “They wanted to free the dolphins for Christmas.”

The incident occurred in the wee hours of the night while the compound had been closed to the public. The Police were called and arrested the one person caught engaging in what is believed to be criminal activity.

While this news site awaits response from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Public Relations Unit on the allegations successful contact was made with the Manager of Swim with the Dolphins Mr. Emmanuel Gilbert who confirmed that there was indeed a break in at the facility.

Declining to give details on the issue, Gilbert said, “They tried but they couldn’t….We are all very fine, thank you very much.”

One of the two who allegedly attempted the mission was caught red handed by an on-duty security guard and other workers of Swim with the Dolphins while the other allegedly escaped but it is not clear if any charges were or will be pressed against the perpetrators. Both are believed to be from Greenpeace, a non-governmental organization (NGO), but this was not confirmed.

Free the dolphins??? Forcing them out of their enclosures would be more like sending them to their deaths. Flog the two idiots, lock them up for 20 years and then deport them!

So why they couldn't go Sea World and attempt to do this, is it because they feel the BVI shouldn't have nothing. And another thing why is it only now this news has been broken? is it because they are Caucasian it wasn't important to report? because as far as I am concern a crime as been committed, someone needs correct me if I am wrong.

All the fowls, cats, dogs and sheep getting run down on the road on a daily basis I find it amazing that these so called animal lovers would rather go and harass a business over some dolphins that and kept, feed and maintained with doctors etc... SMDH...

Greenpeace are a pain in the a$$ in most of the world, they often sprout total nonsense based on their own criminal agenda. I hope these guys get deported and banned for life from here and all British overseas territories. Let them stay where they are from.

While I don't and never will support Dolphin Discovery or any business that keeps dolphins in captivity, these dolphins have lived in captivity for so long that they no longer know how to forage for food. They would never survive in the wild and would likely have suffered a very long and painful death by starvation.

I doubt very much that the perpetrators are from Greenpeace as the folks from Greenpeace would know that they were sentencing the dolphins to death by releasing them into the wild.

As for those who presume to "own" and capitalize on captured dolphins, I will reserve comment other than to say that until they are gone, I will never support Prospect Reef Resort, set foot on that land or patronize any other businesses located there.

So we kill and eat other sea life, kill and eat many other animals on a daily basis and your concerned are Dolphins which are kept, fed, loved etc.? Ease off the sensationalist juices.

Greenpeace are not interested in the long term prospects of the dolphins - just some cheap publicity. I agree with the first poster on here - flog them - it is the only language they understand!

absolutely right SM! I'm with you. It was a gimick when it was established but the same person profiting from the cruise-ship arrivals, Prospect Reef and other self-benefiting endeavors. Greenpeace is more responsible than that and if these 2 stated they are a part of Green peace, the organization probably doesn't know of the events.
In any case, There are other ways of bringing attention to such a medieval and limited program all for the enjoyment of humans and their need to dominate nature. The pens are too small and shallow.

When you are in another man's country you must respect the laws of that country. Crime should never be accepted no matter how good the intentions. The man that stole money to feed his daughter is in prison he also had good intentions. Let them do jail time and if they are not from the BVI please put them on the next ferry OUT....We don't need that kind here.

Its time to shut down this captive dolphin program, its amazing that the BVI Government are promoting the BVI as and ECO- friendly destination and then the tourists find out about a captive dolphin resort and are amazed at the hypocrisy. .As the great Gandi said you can judge the character of a nation by the way it treats is animals.

Not condoning the actions of these criminals but check out the documentary "Black fish" on Netflix. Dolphins are very intelligent creatures that should not be caged. By the way they can be released and still strive in the wild.

first off, your ID is offensive to anyone who knows about kkk. second, there is money in bird SANCTUARIES and eco-tourism. what happens after all the trees gone and hills eroded, fish gone because the mangroves are gone? fish gone because the coral is gone? and pollution reins? there are many locals who are sad at what is going on too. Sometimes white people have seen more and know the consequences better than those who just watch TV and wish big. They do not know the reality of what can happen if we don't take care of the environment and respect species.

Words CAN kill you. What foolishness you are talking. "Long live KKK" is giving permission to harass, bully, intimidate, terrify, belittle...and kill.
The whole island is not a bird sanctuary, but why not protect the basic places where it is? And while you are at it, protect the beaches from trash, vendors, beach chairs and human activity that can erode the shore, discourage turtles and ruin coral.

Wondering if these two were residents or tourists? If tourists and truly associated with animal rights activists group then this probably won't be the last attempt. It is a contentious issue and I hazard to say the majority of people recognize the cruelty of keeping I animals captive for human entertainment. These beautiful, intelligent dolphins deserve to be free and exist in a life they were created for. IF people want to swim with dolphins they should go sailing, find a pod and jump in with them. However, the business is here and will succeed as long as people are willing to pay. The best course of action is for people to speak out and educate others about the unfortunate life of animals in captivity. Suggest snorkeling and/or diving and experiencing the beauty of sea life in its natural glory. If we can convert attitudes with truth then places like Dolphin Discovery will cease to make profits and there will be less opportunity for captivity and more dolphins will enjoy their existence as it was meant to be.

The dolphins should be released whether it is the BVI or Sea World. It is actually cruel to keep them in a confined habitat and serve no other interest but to generate income for the people who keep them .
