EAST END, Tortola, VI- The final of the BVI Football Association’s Men’s Festival Cup will be contested from 4:00pm today, August 4, 2020, between Sugar Boys of Virgin Gorda and Lion Heart of Tortola at the National Stadium in East End.

Sugar Boys marched to the final with a 5-1 thrashing of One Love in semi-final one at the National Stadium yesterday, August 3, 2020.

Gonzalez hat-trick

The prolific scorer, Herman Gonzalez, netted a hat-trick in the second half after the scores were levelled 1-1 following 45 minutes of action.

Gonzalez’s goals came in the 65th, 68th and 79th minutes.

McGraw Baptiste made it five goals for Sugar Boys when he converted from the penalty spot in the 61st minute.

Derrol  Redhead had set Sugar Boys on their way in the 15th minute but the scores were tied after Linden Williams found the back of his own net in the 45th +1 minute.

Lion Heart overcome One Caribbean

Over at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground, Lion Heart eliminated One Caribbean 3-1 in a physical affair.

Dwayne Smith found the back of the nets for Lion Heart from a free kick in the 16th minute and One Caribbean looked set to equalise but failed to capitalise on their goal-scoring opportunities they created.

They would live to regret that after Akim Solomon made it 2-0 for Lion Heart in the 61st minute and then Sheldon Brown added a third in the 68th minute.

One Caribbean pulled one back in the 69th minute through a spectacular header from Kevin Glasgow but it was already a bridge too far for them.

One Caribbean also had one of their players red-carded for dangerous play midway in the second half.

Sugar Boys & One Caribbean round out semis of Men's Festival KO Cup

- semifinals slated for today, August 3, 2020

The semi-finals of the Men’s Festival Cup take place today, Monday, August 3, with the Sugar Boys F.C. taking on One Love United and One Caribbean F.C. facing Lion Heart F.C.

Sugar Boys claimed their spot in the last four following a 4-1 win against Old Madrid F.C. courtesy of a hat trick from Derol Redhead (26’, 36’,79’) and Akeem Hendrickson, who scored in the 80th minute.

Fitzroy Daley netted for Old Madrid.

One Love edge VG United

Their opponents in the last four, One Love, had a much sterner test to come through as VG United took them all the way to a penalty shoot-out, after the match ended 1-1.

However, Mauricio Guevara Villanueva held his nerve to fire his team into the semi, scoring the decisive penalty in a 3-2 win.

Lion Heart prevail over Wolues

Lion Heart found themselves 1 – 0 down to the Wolues, but Shevaughn Thomas equalised in the 45th minute, before adding a second to put Lion Heart on the way to the last four and the win was confirmed as Oshane Ingram made it 3-1 at the death.

One Caribbean oust Rebels

A brace of goals by Jean Charles Jr, either side of a penalty strike by Julian Davidson, was enough for One Caribbean to secure their place, beating Rebels F.C 2-1.

The first semi is scheduled for the National Stadium venue at East End/Long Look between Sugar Boys and One Love at 4:00pm, whilst semi final number 2, featuring One Caribbean and Lion Heart, is on the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground at 6:00pm.
