UPDATE: ‘Strap it on’ - Malik’s parents stress safety at funeral

The funeral service took place today February 1, 2014 at the Road Town Methodist Church.
In a eulogy delivered by former Rotary District Governor, Mr Vance Lewis, Malik’s parents Enos and Karen Aaron offered a message that stressed the importance of wearing a helmet in the correct manner.
“...the message to all riders is ride safely, don’t just put it on, strap it on. It could mean the difference between life and death. Please don’t let our son’s death be in vain, choose wisely, choose life.”
Dedicated and focused student
Malik was described as a once dedicated and focused student who took pains to execute his duties before he successfully graduated from the Elmore Stoutt High School in 2009. He was also crowned Festival Prince in 2002.
His exertions did not stop here however, as he was also remembered as a protective and loving brother and uncle.
He would see to it that his younger brothers, Tarik and Kalik kept up their schoolwork and was reportedly not afraid to take control and mould them into shape.
As a young boy, Malik reportedly demonstrated a passion for bikes, go carts and anything with wheels and also fixed problems that developed on his own.
“Always inquisitive, he would take to dismantling what needed dismantling and what didn’t need dismantling,” Lewis said during the eulogy, “the sheer satisfaction of making it work gave him an immense sense of accomplishment.”
Malik also developed a passion for boating and would assist his father with his many boat charters over the years.
Entrepreneur
He was also remembered as being an ambitious person who embraced his own entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2012, he assumed the lead role in the family’s businesses after their departure from the Territory when a younger brother had been injured in a motorcycle accident. Malik was keen in executing his duties then and made his parents proud.
The young entrepreneur had also taken some courses at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) where he had developed an aptitude for Business and Accounting.
He recently purchased some scooters to start his own scooter rental business and had great plans. Malik was just getting his business affairs in order but now regrettably, his full potential will not be realised.
He was interred at the Sea Cows Bay Cemetery.

I stood and I watched as my Brother rode by
It wasn't the way it should be
He rode not his bike, but in a long black cage
And he rode by himself, not with me.
But I shed not a tear for this Brother of mine
For he lived free and loved his lifestyle
So ride on my Brother and rest in peace
Till we meet again after awhile
And when my time comes to take that last ride
You can bet it'll be with a smile
Cause I love to ride and I'll be going home
So I'll enjoy it to the very last mile
Alone on my tin pony,
To the heavens I’ve been called
But fret not my dear loved ones
I’m not lonely here at all.
