Hon Smith Speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) said the aim of the initiative is as part of overall plans to look out for those in need of the most love this Christmas season.

“I decided to do a feeding programming this year, so that they can have a healthy and enjoyable lunch this Christmas. Giving the elderly some joy with healthy food, while I’m going to be there with them and spend some time with them,” Hon Smith told VINO.

In his Christmas message to the people of the territory, Mr Smith reminded that the COVID-19 pandemic is still around and persons should do all the can to protect themselves from the virus.

Beware of the COVID-19 pandemic during holidays - Hon Smith

“My message is to tell everybody to be safe, always continue to love from a distance this time because we cannot hug and kiss like before”, he said.

Hon Smith said that while the territory is in a different time, people must still spread the love and joy this season while understanding that unity is key to overcoming the pandemic.

“We have to keep in mind that because of the pandemic, we have to find other ways to show and share the love, but not go and keep the same family gatherings like what we normally do.”

The VI Legislator said he has more activities planned before the Christmas holiday, however, will be taking a more targeted approach at identifying families who are needy.

Stop the negative already. Sometimes I don’t agree with him, and sometimes I do I am glad he is looking out for the elderly who paved the way for us to get where we are today. A lot of us forget about that but at least he is one that did not.

Darm tired. You who are so quick to comment on what a man does from his heart. He did NOT have too but he darm will did. So quick to make negative comments of people doing good and helping others. when have you helped someone or even your neighbours but you come on here and bash a brother doing the right thing. Do something then and help someone instead of been a critic. Whether it was Marlon, Fraser, Mark or Myron darm the people are helping others. Some of you people are so un-happy in your lives that you cannot see beyond your shadow.

Thank you. I FEEL THE SAME WAY. I AM DISAPPOINTED AT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THAT WAS BLOGGED. IN MY COMMUNITY, ON SUNDAYS I ALWAYS COOK A BIG MEAL AND TAKE FOOD TO MY NEIGHBORS THAT IS IN NEED, WHEN I GO TO THE MARKET, I WOULD ALSO PICK UP A FEW EXTRA ITEMS AND GIVE TO MY NEIGHBORS THAT IS IN NEED BE IT A BAG OF RICE OR SUGAR. IT MAKES ME FEEL SO GOOD INSIDE.

Job well done. Thank you for paying some much needed attention to the old and infirmed in our community. The sign of a community that is caring is one that takes care of its young and its elderly. Hopefully this act of kindness and thoughtfulness continues.

We know many in the BVI are copy cats...party supply stores, hiking, baking/cooking/making drinks and delivering from home (who testing these homes for sanitary work spaces), burning sage thinking it would get rid of spirits when it violates God’s laws (following people that need deliverance before they seek God in prayer and obedience) mail services, shave off their head and dye it....this food to the homes is not copycat since not much knew Inland Messenger did it and if inland Messenger stopped someone could keep it going.

I fed more seniors myself twice during lockdown and didn't make a song and dance about it, do something for doing sake not to get media attention and score some points

Then bless your heart. You don’t need a song and dance for what you did. I WOULD THINK YOU DID WHAT YOU DID FROM THE HEART. IF YOU TRULY DID SOMETHING FROM THE HEART, IT SHOULD NEVER BE MENTIONED.
