ESTATE BOVONI, St Thomas, USVI- 2024 Governor’s Cup Champion Ghostinyou of Tortola had to settle for another defeat to Pure Speight of St Croix when they clashed in the feature race of the St John Celebration Races on Saturday, July 4, 2025.

 In fact, Ghostinyou, owned by Lesmore Smith of Top Priority Stables, had to settle for third place in the race for a top purse of $25,000.00.

Pure Speight took victory in 145.4, while Guilluame came in second.

Grand Tower and Ice Road were fourth and fifth respectively.

Meanwhile, Risk vs Reward of Tortola was fourth in the final race of the day.

Royal Act took the win, followed by Colbaloaf.

Barrio San Jose was third.

 Other results

The first race of the day was won by Gege Conquest followed by Brooklyn Conquest.

Second and third were Super Spreader and Cemile respectively.

Race 2 was won by Buckmaster, followed by Protector. High Brow and Zaga were third and fourth respectively.

The third race of the day was won by Relentless of Just for Fun Racing Stables.

Second was Raw Honey and third was Bombastic.

Race 4 belonged to Quincy Cafe of Black Label Racing.

Second and third were First Degree and My Candy Biz respectively. Highly Noted was fourth and Prince Blue was fifth.

Sixth was Storm Brave.

Tortola’s Ghostinyou & Risk vs Reward going for the big $$ in St John Celebration Races

 The St John Celebration Races will kick off at Clinton E. Phipps Racetrack in Estate Bovoni, St Thomas from 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Once again, the only participation from Tortola will come from horse racing icon Lesmore Smith, who has entered two horses- 2024 Governor’s Cup Champion Ghostinyou and Risk vs Reward.

Ghostinyou will race in the feature showdown of the day- the Lieutenant Governor’s Cup for $25,000.00.

Horses will battle over 1 Mile 1/16 in the Open Handicap category.

The other horses entered are Pure Speight of St Croix, Ice Road, Guilluame, Grand Tower, and Royal Act/AE.

Post time is 4:50 pm.

Risk vs Reward in Emancipation Day Sprint

The final clash of the 6-race card will see Risk vs Reward seeking to blaze its way to the $20,000.00 purse in the Emancipation Day Sprint over 7 Furlongs for Class A horses.

Challengers will include Mundo Mix from St Croix, Colbaloaf, Modern Lane, Royal Act, and Barrio San Jose.
