ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A local bailiff, who was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision near the entrance of Dolphin Discovery, Prospect Reef on November 2, 2011 is said to be recovering well.

Aliston Wheatley reportedly sustained a punctured lung in the accident, which according to an eyewitness, occurred when a blue Terios (PV23291), which was coming from a westerly direction attempted to turn into the Dolphin Discovery compound and was hit by a gold two-door Suzuki (PD121), which was coming from an easterly direction.

Wheatley’s vehicle sustained the most damage and he had to be cut from the vehicle by Fire and Rescue officers. He was taken to Peebles Hospital in a serious but stable condition and subsequently flown to Florida for further treatment.

The driver of the Suzuki, Kevin Moorehead, escaped with minor injuries.

According to a source close to the family, Wheatley is “recovering well”. The source did not wish to comment further, however.

Meanwhile, the eyewitness who made the emergency call related that the Terios (Wheatley was driving) received a “horrific blow” that sent it into the air and landing on its right side. A few persons reportedly had to lift the vehicle back on its wheels to help release Wheatley, who was apparently partly pinned underneath.
