HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- Detectives of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) have released an image of the gold chain and pendant allegedly taken from a robbery victim on October 29, 2012 outside a bar in Huntums Ghut.

Police had previously confirmed that several shots were fired in the Huntums Ghut area in the vicinity of the Guns and Chicken Hot Shots Bar and A Value supermarket around midnight October 28, 2012 and that a man was robbed of a gold chain and pendant.

The RVIPF is asking persons who may have seen this chain on anyone or being sold on the streets to call the RVIPF three-digit number 311 and speak to any officer within the Criminal Investigations Department. Persons can also give information through the confidential Crimestoppers number 800-8477 or 800-TIPS.

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton had previously indicated to Virgin Islands News Online that "police are investigating an armed robbery of a man in Huntums Ghut around midnight last night" and that shots were fired but no one was injured.

Meanwhile, Virgin Islands News Online had observed what appeared to be a bullet hole on the glass door of the A Value supermarket on October 29, 2012. The store clerk said she noticed it when she turned up for work but had not received any information as to what happened.

This news site’s reporter on the scene tried to draw comments from persons in the area but they had remained either tight-lipped or said they were not aware of any shooting.

Unconfirmed reports also state that the shooting actually took place outside of the Guns and Chicken Hot Shots Bar where the robbery allegedly took place.

Under the leadership of this NDP government they claim they will reduce crime but we have seen no serious efforts to have a reduction of crime and put it as a priority!!!

They have supported the renewal of the UK police officers contracts over local and Caribbean officers and already is supporting D Morris for COP but crime is out of control in this country for this year alone!

People, the only crime plan the NDP and Morris have is to lock up locals who does not support them!!!

The guns will continue to come into the country because the Gov't has failed to shore up our borders and deal in a meaningful way with the drug trade
  • hollowee (29/10/2012, 09:48) Like (0) Dislike (0) Reply
The main problem in the BVI with gun crime is they keep killing and locking up out youths while leaving white collar criminals alone. That would lead to an unstable society!

Now that is pretty stupid...I know what guns are and I know what Chicken is and i also know how they are percieved when it comes to black people. Perception fool fool. By saying my brain is put in upside down, you are suggesting that what you know them to mean should be common, and should be some thing a Well educated, in form, well read person etc should know (every one should Know)

My comment was based on perception, how we as black people are viewed by non blacks when it comes to those two words, and even more so that a shooting took place around a bar with that names.

Don't take it personal cause you picked a stupid names, show some more creativity, show that your brain wasn't put in upside down!!!!!

And I still believe bad elements amongst us should be put down!!!!!

We need a serious Commissioner of Police who understands BVI Culture and BVI Crime. When Morris arrived in the BVI,he did not tell us that he came to fight crime:He told us that he came to weed-out/root-out those undesirables in the police force? Now Morris is Commissioner, but he spend more time out of the country, than in the Country. These UK detectives enjoying their vacation, and having their own segrigated meetings monthly. They doh give a heck about crime in the BVI.Governor,it is time for Her Majesty to replace you and Morris.Send us a qualified C.O.P.Morris is here on a 3-year contract as D.C.P. He should not be acting COP in disguise:Get a C.O.P to run the force, and get some mentally and physically competent police officers back in the C.I.D and Task Force.Wake up Governor!Wake up!! And stop playing UK Friendship-Politics..

but even the polioce men dem will tell you Morris has to plan to fight crime in the bvi.

it seems like only the criminals have a 'crime plan' because only the criminals plans to commit crimes.

Crime is not just a police problem. It is easy to shift the blame. The real tradegy is a lack of community involvement and compassion for others.

Stop talking about the problem a solution.
