While it is horrible for anyone to be run over accidents do happen, even to the police! If this young man had not been attempting to get away this would not have happened, we are responsible for our own actions. To compare this to the atrocity in the states that happened to Mr Floyd is not right.

@RVIPF and @The Reaper! You leave Mr Floyd’s name out of your mouth! How dare you compare a man that was handcuffed, fully apprehended and NO LONGER a threat to someone who that was being pulled over by the police and decided to take off driving like a bat out of hell in a lethal weapon! Yes, vehicles can be and have been used as lethal weapons! No different than if someone is running away from the police on foot w/ a gun in their hand. Shame on you two for comparing this situation to Mr Floyd being murdered by a police officer who had a decent amount of complaints file against for police brutality! The BVI has NO clue what real police brutality looks like!

Police are doing their job. We have too many young men out and about after curfew hours knowing full well the curfew hours, and yet they choose to ignore and disrespect the and do as they please. We all need to be worried about this generation of young men who have absolutely no regard to the laws. It is seen on a daily basis with the way they operate their scooters. Is this the kind of BVI we want for our future? Where are the parents for these young men? Are they afraid to discipline their children from a young age to show respect or is it that the parents don’t know how to discipline and don’t care nor see the need to even make an attempt to try to learn how to be a good parent? This is a grave societal problem that is getting worse and we really have to be mindful of our BVI future.
If the young man chose to jump from a moving vehicle, how in Heaven’s name will the police be able to stop to avoid hitting him? The young man took a chance and it nearly caused him his life. I pray he is doing ok and will recover quickly. But do remember, it was the young man’s fault.

You all be careful these police men do not turn the BVI into America. This seems like these police are being trained to abuse suspects. Hope the day don't come when we have to march with placards printed with "Local black lives matter." a lot of people get on these sites and say support the police in what ever they do. That will be dangerous because in all things we need checks and balances.
    • @pac man (28/05/2020, 12:19) Like (2) Dislike (7) Reply
" Locals lives matter" do not apply to a mini island over populated by foreigners from places with the worse crime rate on planet Earth who dominate in crime everywhere they germinate.
Let this serve as a reminder to countries and places wherethey are deported and denied entry on the regular.
Let the BVI see what it is doing to itself anf its good people. Drain the swamp. Be discerning and selective in the human entrants and dishing out of privelege to be in your country otherwise these clowns will wipe out your tourism product .

TO BE CLEAR: This happened just before curfew they reversed away because they had illegal stuff in the car or the car was being driven illegally, if not why not stop, it wasn't 7pm yet. They are criminals and need to be locked up, if you jump out a moving car to run away from a chasing car and the chasing car hits you , its because you went in front of it trying to escape.

It is very fashionable to curse the police, and many of us in this country seem always ready to engage in the most vicious broadside against the RVIPF, while ignoring alot of 'issues' with the other law enforcement agencies and/or government. The question that begs anwering, is why? Would it hurt us to simple wait, base our judgements on the facts, and avoid what is perhaps an ingrained predisposition towards lawlessness, or the support of it? I think we have a rather gracious police force, which has exercised great restriant in the face of abundant and constant provocation by people who harbour entitlement to special treatment on the basis of nationality, wealth, last name, or other status (ascribed or assumed). Fact: current lesgislations give the police far more powers than they actually utilize. For instance, the police may search your property without you, or any other member of your household, being present, but they almost always ensure your presence in the execution of a search. The term 'police state' is being irresponsibly banded about by persons who ought to know better, and who we would think should be the 'adults in the room'. What then should be expected of the 'children in the room'? I think the youth of this country are only modeling the behaviour of these so-called grown-ups. Fact: a plethora of negative role models (especially males) litter these beautiful islands, with very few and notable exceptions. Criminality, corruption, nepotism, and get-rich-quick-by-any-means mentality seems to be the social order, and it is supported by people should know better. Cuss me now, or grow a pair of balls and deal with the issues I have raised.

one uk representative have more say than those the people elected on election day while one uk representative turning the once tranquil bvi in a police state: there is a clause which speaks about an officer executing a lawful act unlawfully; the police have regulations and procedures to follow not because you are working in the police department your uniform does not give to the rights to execute your lawful duty with disregard to law...the injured parties need to press civil charges against the head of police: you visiting from other caribbean islands are accustomed to this level of conduct by their police officers it is normal daily conduct. in the mean time a set of murderers and others involved in various gun crimes and dope smugglers continues undisturbed by the same police department in this little territory
