Better stop changing Yahweh's Word to suit yourselves. What guardian Angel. We all have to repent and be obedient to God. Can't expect to live for the world and be accepted into God's Kingdom.

Do you know it was one of these vehicles? Have you passed that information on to the police? Or are you making assumptions?

There is not to many Jeep Liberty or Wranglers in Tortola. All the police have to do is narrow down how many people on the Island who owns and drive the above mentioned vehicles.

When will we do something about the youths and these motorcycles? How many more have to die or be maimed for the Government to re-institute the ban on motorcycles or at least increase the age limit?
    • Tired (09/12/2021, 06:56) Like (81) Dislike (5) Reply
How did the accident become the rider’s fault? Y’all who want bikes to be banned are annoying. Yes there are some reckless bike riders, but there are some reckless car drivers as well!. For all we know this young man’s life could have been saved if the person who hit him called 911 and stayed to keep him alert until help came. At the end of the day a family lost their young family member. Just say condolences and move on! Or better yet.. assist in helping find the person who left the scene of a crime.

Indeed, hard to prove that it was the rider’s fault, but ask yourself, what proportion of riders do you see driving defensively? What proportion of riders do you see flouting speed ruiles, driving recklessly weaving in and out of traffic, with helmets (if worn) often not properly secured? Was the victim even wearing a helmet? To be fair, the disgraceful for the other party to leave the scene. But then again, accountability does not feature heavily in this Territory.

You're right that there are both bad car drivers and bike drivers. The difference is however, that you're far more likely to die on a bike- you have no protective metal shell whatsoever. Therefore a greater level of training/regulation is required to ensure those that do wish to ride on two wheels instead of 4, are as equipped with as much knowledge/maturity/experience and safety as they possibly can be. Really sorry to hear of this incident. I'm also sorry to not hear of any improved controls that protect riders for their own good- Increase the minimum age, increase the level of training required to pass your test, and stiffer penalties for those that choose not to wear a helmet.

I would definitely not be me.the first thing i would ask ,is the scooter licensed and insured??is the rider a licensed rider?? if any of these questions are in the negative the rider and scooter should not be on the road.and if a vehicle is involved the same questions I would ask. we all feel for the family but at the end of the day is how you make up your bed you going to sleep on it.we all know that many more would go this way and some would say why the negative comments but take a reality check and see all the people who say think positive see if anything really changes. not a dawn thing.the # of underage youths I see riding up and down I believe this society that we living in gone to the dogs lawless has taken over.the government of the day need to pass strict laws who it hut it hut.seems to me that the problem of this small island is much bigger than any government that we elected to occupy pace.look at all the big trucks that drive these roads every day without license stickers on there windshield. do you think these trucks are licensed and insured and the owners or drivers have the insurance and license stickers in the glove compartment or in their pockets. they are simply not licensed and insured. so if we cannot start with these how in heaven's name can we go after the smaller faster moving ones.every one knows every one in the bvi until a crime is committed. then is when we never see our cousins and friends in years. lol.its to late in this administration for any good results to be achieve.so the people of this small island need to understand that if you are using anything on wheels and its not licensed and insured and you don't have the appropriate license dog eat your supper when anything happens.

There is a lot of reckless scooter riders. Not saying last night was one.
But your response is uncalled for. We need to find the reckless riders and take their licences. Same way the licence pf a reckless driver should be taken.

Yes, as a driver I get annoyed at some of the riders, but not all are reckless. And are you saying that the person who hit him and left him, with apparently no regard for his life, bears no responsibility for his death? Wrong is wrong!

Growing up, the older folks always used to say that when the year is coming to a close, people tend to die senselessly, so use caution.

About 6 months ago I witnessed a crash a moped came from a junction then have to swave off of a coming Car with the right away ran into a fence and it's the helmet he had on that save his life. I actually say the steel from the fence puncture the helmet. That was his lucky day... So please riders for the rules of the road always wear your Helmet. We are losing too much of our young men. The question is. Who is responsible...

      Isaiah 57:1 KJV

      1The righteous perishes,
      And no man takes it to heart;
      Merciful men are taken away,
      While no one considers
That the righteous is taken away from evil.

You want to put your mouth on people but don't realise all deaths aren't because persons are crackheads! or deserve death.. I don’t care if you didn’t say that about them this is a hit and run and some of you have all kinds of things to say..

For those of you who lost loved ones and wondered why the Most High took them when they were such loving and righteous individuals.. There..be comforted as sometimes its because they are being taken away from this wretched place with people like Bone Yard..

My condolences to this young man’s family.. I don’t know what kind of person he was but I do hope that his latter end is pleasant.. RIP.

The Police did and is doing all they could to warn and protect these Moped riders from danger to themselves and others. The community Expressed their frustration of their reckless, careless and dangerous riding. Yet they refused to take heed. And what really upset me is when I see young girls riding on the back and neither the girl or the rider wearing any helmet... I wonder what are these parents doing? They know what's going on. Though they may pretend they don't.....This is sad. Very sad. Time for parents to get serious with their bike riding children....

Most of the time, when you voice your concern to some of the parents the parents answer to you is let the young people have their fun. I once voice my concern to a parent in my neighborhood about her son’s behavior with his motorcycle after hours disturbing the residents with the noise and I was told to stop picking on her son, he is just having fun. HAVING FUN AT 1 AM IN THE MORNING DISTURBING THE NEIGHBORS. SOME PARENT RIGHT?

The best thing to do is simply turn yourself in to the police. Word is already going around that people know the vehicle. To all you repair shops, don’t touch the damage vehicle with a ten foot pole.

People is out here gunning for the vehicle and driver. Simply turn yourself in. I agree, if I was a mechanic or own a body shop there is no way I will fix a vehicle with a body attach to it. My sincere condolences to the young man family and friends. How you go run someone over like that and keep on going. That is truly messed up.

If the writer of the Article knew anything about the accident, we would have known who was driving the vehicle that was involved in the accident. It seems like pure speculation about who hit who, since much is unknown. All we know for sure is that there was a collision and the scooter rider died.

You are so correct, the victim always end up taken the blame. A woman gets rape or violated, it is her fault or she ask for it, someone gets hit by a car, it is the persons fault, a child gets pinesol pour in mouth by a teacher following the order of a principal, it is the child fault meanwhile the incompetent Principal walks away with a slap on the wrist. $2,000 dollars is not enough compensation for the victim.

Whatever happened, no one deserve to be run over and left in the street like a piece of garbage. To the driver of the vehicle be it male or female, the right thing to do was stay at the scene and not run off. This brings back memories of the young man from Sea Cows Bay that was mowed down by the flat bed truck that fled the scene. Someone knows who the driver of the vehicle is. Do the right thing and turn them in. If you don’t, you are just as guilty and upholding them in the wrong. If you are a mechanic or do body work on vehicles, do the right thing and contact the police.Don’t condone and cover up for a hit and run murder. They get away with it, they will do the same to someone else.

I will admit sometimes I will curse under my breath when a motorcycle or scooter rider ride recklessly while I am driving or they wake me up out of my sleep with the loud noise but if I happen to have a accident with one of them, I am going to stay at scene and call for help. What pisses me off more is when a driver decide to stop in front of me in the middle of the road to pick up someone or want to have a conversation with someone at the side of the road. Then they want to curse you out when you blow your horn.
