ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department have one man in custody for questioning in relation to a robbery on Fort Hill, which left one man with a gunshot wound to the leg on December 30, 2012.

This is according to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Davian Fahie. Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that Mr. Fahie was closing up the bar, referred to as Mariette's Bar, at Fort Hill when he was approached by a gunman who reached for his (Mr Fahie’s) gold chain.  It was during this time that the young man was shot in his left leg.

The victim resisted and was shot by one of the men in the thigh. The mask men then fled the scene with the jewellery.

The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.

One assailant is described as approximately 5’11 feet while the other is about 5’5. Both were dressed in dark clothing.

Police are appealing for any witnesses of robbery or any suspicious behavior around the restaurant prior to the incident. Information can be shared with any officer of CID by calling the RVIPF non-emergency three-digit access number 311.

We need our government to stop dilly-dallying and enact some legislation to put a mandatory 10 years for carrying a firearm and 20 for armed robbery. This is disgusting! Who are these insane whakos who not only are out to rob but are crazy enough to carry a gun and actually use it? Whoever is doing this has a friend or family member who is in the know. The smartest thing they can do is turn this insane criminal into the police before someone gets killed.

OOOPS!! Too Late!! Already 100's of guns in here already. Check the ferry's after they drop off the last passengers for the day, and head to the fuel dock. There's where you will find your guns coming in. Even the keystone cops would know that!

Why you did say local police them jokers instead of saying ''UK officers?? dem JOKERS" What are we paying the local police for? Is not to do the same job as the UK officers? By you saying that you make local officers look small and useless as well we as tax payers broken and that’s a shame real shame

Look how ayo jump to blame outside police officers for this. People - we should be looking to ourselves and our community for raising children who rob and shoot. But no ... as always we find some weakling way of blaming outsiders. Seriously, I hope that new govt. clinical psychologist got time because it have ALOT for him to do around here.

Everytime something happen we blame the police they can't be everywhere at once, but until our attitude change as it relates to combating crime things will never change and these guys will continue to get away when ever they make attempt to hold up and shoot somebody. Haft the time we who lives here dose know who are doing these crimes but we choose not to tell the police and the thing is this the police them never did nothing to us on a personal level but yet we hate them.

I aint no fan of the police either but to get this country back the way it should be somthing gonna have to give, we can't have it both ways. There are a number of options the police has put in place to get these info to them its by time we start using them 2013 is coming these man have to get stop.

C'Mon Mon, People stop pointing and do something! Police are ineffective without the help of the people. Stop complaining and do something. Not one of you would report the offenders if you knew who they were, so be quiet and suffer in the mean time, atleast untill you decide to get involve and help. We help those that help them selves!
