UPDATE: Nevis Premier hails Delta Petroleum's commitment to island

Premier Amory said Delta Petroleum and the Nevis Island Administration have had very constructive business relations for more than 20 years and in that period the company has proved to be a very supportive partner in the development of Nevis generally, but in particular in support of the Nevis Island Administration.
"This investment by your company makes a statement that you have confidence in the Nevis Island Administration and in the future development of Nevis and our people," said Hon. Amory.
Hon. Amory was one of the many persons in attendance at the ceremony to mark the launch of Delta Petroleum's newest service station at Stony Grove. The service station will now be DP’s flagship station on the island. There are five additional service stations in the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis.
Managing Director of Delta Petroleum, Vernon Lake said the investment is further evidence of the faith and confidence in the people and Government of Nevis, notwithstanding the difficult economic times that persons are presently enduring. “I urge the community to take advantage of all the services that we have to offer at this new flagship station. After all its intended purpose is to improve the lives of all Nevisians.”
Nevis Island Manager, Sharon Hobson noted that Delta Petroleum has been operating in Nevis for some 25 years. She added as Island Manager she was extremely elated to once again be a part of the auspicious and monumental event. "The opening of this first ever Delta Petroleum Flagship Service Station speaks volumes of the attention we direct to the needs of our valued customers."
Regional General Manager, Bevis Sylvester said as the "Regional General Manager of such a pristine Petroleum company, I can only thank the Nevis public for their support over the years, which has made it possible for such a beautiful service station to be erected in this market. I therefore salute all our customers and our prospective customers, noting that this service station really belongs to them.”
Mr Sylvester also stated that the service station is being branded with a new product called “X-Power Plus”. This product, he said, is known for its efficiency and power. He also went into details about the advantages of the product X-Power plus.
"It’s indeed a new day and a new way, and Delta is committed to providing for all the petroleum needs of our customers this new day and in a new way. Once again I thank the people and government of Nevis for their patronage and we pledge to continue to provide service at the highest level," was the commitment of Mr Sylvester.

DP to launch newest service station in Nevis today Feb. 15
Much fanfare is expected on the island of Nevis when Delta Petroleum (DP) launches its newest flagship service station at Stony Grove around 5 P.M. today, February 15, 2013.
The service station will now be DP’s flagship station on the island. There are five additional service stations in the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis.
The launch is expected to be attended by Premier of Nevis Hon. Vance Amory among others.
In an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online from Nevis, Regional General Manager (RGM) of Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Limited, Mr Bevis Sylvester, said the company will be using the opportunity to honour the life of the late Dr. Simeon “Sims” Daniel, the first Premier of Nevis.
Dr. Daniel died on May 27, 2012 following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Nevis, August 22, 1934 and became the island’s first Premier in1983, serving with distinction until he retired from active politics in 1992.
“We are going to make a presentation to his wife. Dr. Daniel is the one who first brought Delta Petroleum into Nevis,” commented Mr Sylvester.
He noted that presentations will also be made to the Canine Unit of the Nevis police force and the high school.
“We had a grand motorcade yesterday, the people are very excited and we expect a packed house for the launch this afternoon,” Mr Sylvester said.
Delta Petroleum had previously said this is the first time that a new brand of the service stations had been attempted in the Federation and it is expected to be markedly more user-friendly with features such as electronic pumps to be included as opposed to the manual pumps of old. Additionally, pumps are expected to be credit card readable, a first for DP stations in the region, according to the RGM.
There will also be a self-service as well as a full-service lane, with customers expected to receive a cheaper price in the self-service lane of the station. The entire console mechanism for the pumps is fully computerised while the tank gauging system for the station is also set to be electronic and fully viewable by the Regional Office online.
The total cost of the new service station was expected to be in the region of $700,000 to $1M.
Touching on the importance of the new service station in the wider scheme of DP’s plans, the RGM had said “because Nevis is an island that is driven on their commitment to Delta, I think that country deserves a flagship service station.” He had further disclosed that, “Delta Petroleum went there and has been performing the power plant contract for many years.”
According to the RGM, “Delta Petroleum is known for its service and for being responsive to the needs of its customers, we pride ourselves on the efficiency of the service station.
Delta Petroleum plans to launch additional flagship service stations in other islands in the near future as well.
