UPDATE: Miss World BVI expresses gratitude for VI’s support
Malone greeted and thanked persons in attendance before offering a beautiful rendition of Hallelujah, the song that won her much acclaim in the talent segment in Indonesia.
She told attendees she gave it her best shot and did her best to make her country proud. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and I want to thank you guys for letting me represent the BVI,” Malone said.
Franchise holder for the Miss World BVI, Damion C. Grange commented that co-chair of the Miss World Organisation, Julia Morley said Malone had made an impression on everyone and for him this was a big deal that that she deserved credit for.
He credited the experience as a learning one and said Malone paved the way for future contestants performing in the Miss World competition. “As she was learning, we were learning and there were things that we could have done better, I must admit but we were able to control it as it came up and going forward we know the kinks and are better aware of the expectations and so we will be able to prepare the girls even more as they go off to represent the country,” he stated.
Grange said the Virgin Islands has made a mark around the world through Malone’s representation and noted that she has done a great job in further promoting the Territory. He added that VI art was on display as well through the marine vase donated to the Miss World BVI Committee by Bamboushay which he said generated particular interest while raising much needed funds at the beauty with a purpose charity auction in Indonesia.
Malone disclosed that during her stay in Indonesia she experienced a hiccup in receiving her traditional dress for her ‘Dances of the World’ appearance which was shipped via FedEx but was never received until two weeks later.
“I could have been one of the features on the night,” she expressed. Malone said this was an immigration related issue in Indonesia but noted that this was a bit discouraging but did not affect her performance in the competition significantly as she did eventually participate in the ‘Dances of the World’ competition.
Grange expressed that preparations for next year’s competition has already begun and related that six persons have already indicated interest thus far.
He was hopeful that the next Miss World BVI contestant would also adopt the Autism Centre in addition to their platform so that the committee’s work can be continued.

Sorry I missed this event.
Someone commented about no ministers being present. Well it would appear that pageants have been watered down over the years due to poppy show events and greed (girls demanding better prizes) so when a girl does really do well it would appear that the country isn't behind her ... sad
Nevertheless Miss Malone did well despite people not feeling she deserved to go ..she proved them wrong!!! And she ROCKS!!!
By the way Job well done
I too wish to say though, congratulations. I am certain you did your very best. Wish I had known about the event as well. Enjoy the rest of your reign.
