ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Jordan Joseph, a Dominican national who fell off the ‘Save the Seed’ building in Duffs Bottom is scheduled to have reconstruction surgery done to his face.

Joseph fell off the roof of the building and landed on his face on April 13, 2012 while working on the said building and was flown to Jamaica for medical treatment where he is expected to undergo the surgery. According to Bishop John Cline, Bishop of the New Life Baptist Church, he said Joseph is now showing signs of recovery, where he is eating and now speaking.

Bishop Cline indicated that until Joseph’s recovery, his medical bills are being taken care of by the church, reasons being he has no family residing in Tortola.

The Bishop sends out an invitation to persons of the community who would like to contribute to Mr. Joseph’s recovery. He added that persons interested are invited to attend service at New Life Baptist Church in Duffs Bottom and speak to him personally.

In a previous interview with Bishop Cline, he indicated that as a result of the fall, Joseph who is a father of one, suffered multiple injuries, including injuries to his head and face.

Mr. Joseph was part of a construction crew working on the “Save the Seed” building which is being built by the church.

“He fell inside the building…the incident occurred about 10 a.m. and he hit his head. I have been told by the doctors that he’s in a semi-conscious state,” Bishop Cline told this news agency.

Cline had added that the church “will do whatever we can to get the treatment and our prayer is for the Lord to heal and deliver him.”

The “Save The Seed” is an initiative of Bishop Cline, who had previously told Virgin Islands News Online, is a manifestation of a vision he was given by God for the development of especially young people.

The three-storey facility, which would cost some $5M to be completed, would include an 8-lane bowling alley, indoor basketball court, a full state of the art gym inclusive of an aerobics room, weights, cardio-workouts and personal trainers. There would also be a learning centre and café.

It is my hope and prayer that the lad will recover from this accident. I cannot wonder however, why is Pastor Cline seeking to compete with Bobby's Sports Complex. Competition is good but it should not be done at the expense of carrying out the work of the Kingdon of God. Yes I know that this Pastor has had many "visions". So did Belshazar.

To TAXPAYER note that Pastor/Bishop Cline is not seeking to compete with Bobby's Sports Complex. The fact is that one of the onwer's of that Complex use to come faithfully to NLBC services and heard Bishop Cline mention about this project and he ran with it.

To answer to "well well well" comment. . . People migrate for many reasons. As you can see he was injured while working. Have a heart my GOD. Do you have family abroad working trying to make ends meet? Would you like the authorities to "send dem home and clean up the place?" People are not animals ok. Think before you speak. God Loves You Too.

Wow! I trust God for Jordan's recovery. I wish construction workers would wear harnesses when working on tall buildings. I try to get them to wear them when they work for me, and they laugh at me, but I am so scared of them falling. We will remember Jordan in our prayers.

do we have good safety laws in place? When we amend the labour laws was these taken into account? Something to thing about BVI..the issues of health and safety

My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man(Joseph) and wish him a swift and complete recovery. Immigration in the BVI is a serious issue that is diving the community, creating too much bate and distrust. And immigration issues must be discussed and resolved. But when a person's life hang in the balance it is poor form to make immigration status the core issue. We need to demonstrate more compassion. Lets pray for Joseph's recovery. That said lets chat about construction safety. First let say up front that I do not know what caused the incident. A follow on investigation by the Labour Department should unearthed the cause(s). As such I will comment on the cause of the incident but rather general construction safety . Construction is inherently dangerous and is even more so with lax attitudes toward established construction safety practices, procedures, policies, rules.......etc. Strict adherence to these prove safety measures prevent and/or minimize construction accidents. As the height of buildings and facilities increased the likelihood of more serious accidents increased. Accidents costs the territory; some cost include loss wages and productivity, medical services, insurance coverage, pain and suffering, depletion of personal savings....etc. It is in the territory's interest to prevent or reduce construction accidents. One preventable accident is too many. The territory need to embark on some serious risk assessment and risk management. It needs to root out complacency, which is a major contributor to accidents. There needs to a serious, working partnership among contractors, workers, owners, and appropriate government agencies on safety management.

@ Well Well I agree with all the ones and the comment you made. What in the name of creation does being a Dominican have to do wtith the price of rice. Obviously you are neither educated nor have much common sense to come on such a public forum and make such a dumb and sensless statement. If you don't have anything to say, just keep your trap shut. You just upset me. Jordan you are a sweet person, my prayers are with you hope you pull thru.

There should be workman compensation paid in to SS for workers so in case of work related accidents, they take care of all expenses if he was working for a company or even if he was employed by the church to do the work, this should be paid to save you from unnecessary suits. Also Companies should take out a liability coverage in-case of law suits, it is not as expensive as you may think. But this covers the company from having to pay monies out of pockets or have to ask the community for help. I hope you did have this in place. If not, then he really needs assistance. Companies should be more careful and needs to take the proper precautions to cover themselves and their employees. I hope you can help make his recovery possible, continue to believe that God work miracles.
