A man has reportedly lost his life in an accident involving an excavator in the Paraquita Bay area of Tortola.

PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- With next of kin and other family members adequately informed, our News Centre can now disclose that the man who died in an accident involving an excavator at Paraquita Bay, Tortola on April 3, 2024, is 59-year-old Courtney Parsons Hodge aka ‘Coco’.

It is unclear what were the circumstances surrounding the tragedy; however, Mr Parsons was reportedly pinned by the heavy equipment.

Police are said to be investigating.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a statement on April 3, 2024, said the fatal incident took place after 1:00 PM.

“One male was pronounced dead at the scene,” Police stated.

The Management and Staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend condolences to the family and friends of the late Courtney Parsons aka ‘Coco’.

Man reportedly dies in excavator accident in Paraquita Bay

A man has reportedly lost his life in an accident involving an excavator in the Paraquita Bay area of Tortola.

According to information reaching our News Centre, the tragedy occurred sometime this afternoon, April 3, 2024.

It is unclear the circumstances surrounding the accident, which occurred on a farm.

It is also unclear at this time whether the deceased was operating the excavator when the accident occurred.

    I think they should always wear their seat belt in those excavator to avoid any casualties.
    Also someone should be there to watch on if the job site is a difficult area to work, just to give an extra eye out.

      Good point. I am not too sure if this is norm here but every construction site should have someone whose job is to do nothing but to ensure on site safety for each person. A proper safe work environment should Helmets, proper foot wear, googles, gloves harnesses where necessary etc. Each person should have workman's insurance for the duration of the job.
