VANTERPOOL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has launched an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred in the Vanterpool Estate area on Sunday, April 26, 2026, around 7:00 PM.

Previously, our news centre reported that on the same day, police responded to reports of gunshots in the Old Plantation area of Tortola. However, it was unclear if anyone was injured or what the circumstances surrounding the incident were. The police confirmed the reports but did not provide further details.

Police have since clarified that the shooting actually took place in Vanterpool Estate.

According to a press release issued today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from the RVIPF, officers responded promptly to the report and collected evidence from the scene. Initially, no injured individuals were found.

Male appeared with gunshot wounds 

“A male individual later presented himself at the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.  He received medical treatment and has since been discharged,” stated the RVIPF.

The RVIPF confirmed that the investigation is still active and ongoing. 

The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist the investigation to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-8477 (TIPS).

Shots fired in Old Plantation area of Tortola

Police last evening, Sunday, April 26, 2026, responded to reports of gunshots in the Old Plantation area of Tortola.

It is unclear if anyone was injured or what the circumstances were surrounding the alleged incident.

Police confirmed reports of the incident but did not provide details.

"Police can confirm a report of shots fired in the Old Plantation area a short while ago. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

"Anyone with information that may assist is encouraged to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-8477 (TIPS)," the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated.
