UPDATE: Is this the end for VI’s Really Uptown?

Uptown eventually finished sixth, in last place, in a race that many expected would only be a two horse race between the returning champion and Admission which finished in fifth place at the Clinton E. Phipps racetrack in St Thomas yesterday.
Instead, fans are left to wonder what really transpired to cause the Virgin Islands’ Triple Crown champion, Really Uptown, to finish in such an unexpected manner, especially considering the promising form showed in a return race which was won last month at Ellis Thomas Downs ahead of Town Hall which finished in second place in the Governor’s Cup.
Meanwhile, owner of Town Hall, Alex V. Lake of Family Affairs Stables expressed disappointment in not being able to secure the Governor’s Cup after coming so close to a win, but felt the race went well for his team.
“When I leave my Territory I represent to the fullest. When I went to St Croix, I won the race. I came to St Thomas and ran an excellent second place in the Governor’s Cup,” Lake said.
A complaint filed by the team after they felt there was a foul near the end of the race did not find favour with the judges and Lake said he accepted and understood their decision as it was final. “We’re excellent sportsmen and we accept [the decision] for what it was,” he added.
Earlier in the day Don’t Hook My Halo of St Croix finished first in the Angel Corneiro Cup while Machoramus won the second race of the day, The Warren “Tobago” Estrada Cup.
The third race of the day was won by Mr Gold Prospect with Mae Ruler finishing first in the fifth race and Stephen Got Better taking the win in race number six. Uptown Anthem defeated Break Up the Game to complete victory in race seven and Tiger Glider won the final race of the day.
