BELLE VUE, Tortola, VI – The man who was shot in the Belle Vue area last evening, February 9, 2014 has since been identified.

Several sources have confirmed the identity of the man as Roger Farrington of Belle Vue who was said to be on his way home from the basketball games at the Belle Vue Gym and Community Centre when he was shot in the leg. 

Farrington is also a player with the Ruff House Basketball team which won the Hon. Julian Fraser/Save The Seed Intermediate Basketball League in October 2013.

Further information indicates that Farrington was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg at the Peebles Hospital and sent away.

Reports are that the bullet grazed his leg, leaving a superficial injury that did not require him being admitted.

Man shot & injured in Belle Vue

BELLE VUE, Tortola, VI – Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that one man was shot after leaving basketball games in the Belle Vue area last evening, February 9, 2014.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has since confirmed that a man was shot but did not confirm the extent of his injuries.

Police Information Officer Diane Drayton told this news site, “One male received an injury to the leg in relation to a shooting incident in the [Belle Vue] area.”

Up to post time, the man was reportedly receiving treatment for his injury at the Peebles Hospital.

Drayton said Police are appealing for witnesses in the shooting incident.

The entire circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear at this time, however, this news site will provide additional details as they become available.
