DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Former Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Carvin Malone (AL) has said he decided to return to the Unity Government side in the House of Assembly after careful consideration and consultation.

Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) first and accurately reported this morning, February 2, 2023, of Hon Malone’s crossing of the floor.

“After careful consideration and consultation, it has been decided that I would vacate my post as a member of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and rejoin my Virgin Islands Party colleagues as a member of the backbench in the Government of National Unity, with immediate effect,” Hon Malone stated in a letter to Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA) Hon Corine N. Hon Malone, in the letter, said he wished to thank the people of the Virgin Islands for their support, understanding and appreciation of the impart of information from his post as Opposition Member.

“I pledge to continue the discharge of all relevant information, save for topics of National Security and those limited by protocol,” Hon Malone wrote.

Hon Carvin Malone to return to Unity Government

- reportedly expected to challenge Premier Wheatley for Chairman of VIP

Word reaching our news centre from sources within the coalition government is that Opposition legislator Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) is to cross the floor today and return to the Unity Government headed by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).

This is expected to happen this morning, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the Continuation of the Second Sitting of the Fifth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.

It was on June 15, 2022, that Hon Malone, a backbencher in the Unity Government, crossed the floor to increase the Opposition to two.

As Opposition Member he was famous for peppering the Unity Government with questions.

Hon Malone is popular!

Hon Malone, through his One Virgin Islands Agenda programme, has been a popular figure over the last six months in educating the public about the Commission of Inquiry, the constitutional review process and other topical matters involving the VI’s relationship with the United Kingdom (UK).

It is also our understanding that Hon Malone, a former Minister for Health and Social Development, is to challenge Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) for the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Chairmanship post in a Congress meeting scheduled for this Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Efforts to draw a comment from Hon Malone proved futile up to the time of publication.

We will have more information as the story develops.

Sorry but I have very little respect for this man. He and Mitch in one dirty basket. They move to wherever their chances for greater for power. Remember Mitch was prepared to jump ship if Andrew gave him the deputy post in last elections. Then Andrew outed him to the world. No loyalty to anyone but themselves.

I never trust Malone. When he is on the Opposition he says one thing. Now he is back with the government his story will change again. Once he is offered a carrot on a stick he will go to anyside.

Imagine, the House of Assembly, which is suppose to be the most respected body/highest form of government in this country is meeting on a basketball court for over 2 years now. Anything goes in this place messon. These people have no pride or standards. Less as sh**.

In reference to the topic issue, I need not have to warned you, the citizens of the British Virgin Islands about this Malone family. They believe that only them have the needful ability to lead us out of the mess that we are in, but they have played a big role in where we now are.
This latter move is clear evidence of the danger, politically speaking, that if we intent to move forward to experience better governance for the betterment of the people of the British Virgin Islands, we must not, coming next general election elect people of selfish mindset.

It should be clear to us by now that the the above mentioned group does have our Country's best interest at heart, only their own

All of them went to the same school and graduated with a political degree. all you look good and read between the lines.
Each one of us not dumb or stupid it is all of us who have the stroke of the pen or pencil coming in a few weeks. all the school they all went to let's see who will be the val and sal. We will determine all the graduates. Sorry to say but how it looks from the inside the classroom we have some failures and it's hard to catch up because the final exams only carry 30% of grades. Presently we have many e and f not even a d. Their report cards are very poor. 30 % cant even give them a c-.

Some will stay back in the same class until they learn to apply wisdom, understanding and fairness. For the next four years they will sit behind classroom and do some introspection.

The concept of crossing the floor makes no sense to me. In one instance you are keeping the Government in check and in the next instance you are part of that Government. The party system is also not conducive to VI's progress. There is no ideological difference and it's the breeding ground for corruption, nepotism, and cronyism. On top of that it perpetrates the incompletion of major projects.

6 years in September and our 'leaders' still meeting in a gym. How much has been paid to STS over the last 5 years? Is there truly NO government space to take 14 seats and a public gallery? Seems like a complete inability to progress from this lot.
