ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Sources have indicated that the wound received by the man who was shot several days ago and rushed to the Peebles Hospital was self-inflicted.

The determination was reportedly made following a medical practitioner’s examination of the marks on his skin and also on the basis of the entry and exit wounds on the victim’s thigh.

The shooting victim is reportedly a resident of the East End/Long Look area of Tortola. The exact nature of his current condition remains unclear but reports indicate that he is stable after being rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital several days ago.

Although the wound was said to be self-inflicted, sources indicated that no weapon has since been recovered following the incident which reportedly occurred in the vicinity of the LIME building in Road Town on Friday, December 13, 2013.

According to Police Information Officer Ms Diane Drayton, Police are investigating an alleged assault where a man received a gunshot wound to the thigh Friday evening in the Crabbe Lot area. "Police are still to ascertain how the wounding came about," Ms Drayton told Virgin Islands News Online on December 15, 2013.

How come it can be accidental when guns are illegal?
    • Guest (15/12/2013, 11:57) Like (5) Dislike (1) Reply
Accidental means with the shooter did not intend to shoot the individual. We all know guns are illegal. They are not saying it is not a crime.

guns are not illegal, it only becomes illegal if you do not have a license to keep or carry the said gun, remember that.

hello ex pat; let the uk officers go back to the uk and solve their own unsolved-crimes...how many crimes have been solved by them as of 2013....i know we can see them in bars drinking west indian run, on the beach enjoying our climate....stop talking such fu@$ because the crime rate in the bvi is up while under the professional watch of the uk police....i dont know where you coming from but the BVI i know never had uk police but the crime rate was low....my question to you smart-ass(how many crimes were solved under the uk police.....london have unsolved crime, these same officers could not or can not get them solved so you are very stupid to think these uk police will be the answer to bvi crime solving......are you white??????

That part of the ghetto has no cameras, tis the parking lot that joins with LIME parking lot, behind of Franklyins......and this will not be the only incident to happen back there, since that's where they hide now because of the cameras in the front.......
