ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Medium and high level clouds will continue of the BVI for the next 24hrs causing above normal cloudiness; however, significant rainfall is not anticipated because of a reduction of moisture in the lower levels of the atmosphere. The Flash flood watch has been discontinued as of 4pm this afternoon, September 6, 2013.

Wx: Tonight: cloudy with areas of light rain mixed with brief scattered overnight showers

 Tomorrow: Cloudy with brief isolated to widely scattered showers

Winds: E-ESE at 4-12kts becoming lighter in some places overnight and SE at 6-14kts tomorrow.

Seas: Slight to moderate: Heights 1-1.5m or 3-5ft.

Barometric Pressure: A little above normal

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - According to the Antigua Met Service a trough system along with the remnants of Gabrielle will cause the atmosphere across the British Virgin Islands to remain unstable. A flash flood watch is in effect until 4 pm this afternoon.

Wx: Today: cloudy skies with light rain, scattered showers and a few afternoon thunderstorms. Tonight: Partly cloudy to cloudy with a few scattered showers

Winds: SE at 08-16kts.

Seas: Moderate with waves 1.2m or 4ft.

Barometric Pressure: Near normal

UPDATE: Flash Flood warning extended 

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - According to the Antigua Met Service a surface trough is affecting the Leeward Islands and British Virgin Islands. It will continue to generate cloudy skies with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

 The flash flood warning for the British Virgin Islands is extended until 6am tomorrow Friday.

 Wx: Skies tonight will be cloudy with scattered moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. 

Winds: SE at 6-12 kts gusting higher at times.

 Seas: Moderate waves 1.5m/5ft 

Barometric Pressure: Normal 

Sunrise tomorrow:  6:51 am. 

Sunset tomorrow:  5:56 pm.

Gabrielle producing gusty winds and squalls

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - At 5 A.M., the centre of Tropical Storm Gabrielle was estimated near latitude 17.5 north...longitude 66.9 west. Gabrielle is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph.

Location...17.5N 66.9W
Distance: About 40 mi...65 km SSW of ponce Puerto Rico
Maximum sustained winds 40 mph
Present movement...NW at 8 mph
Minimum central pressure:1008 MB

This general motion is expected to continue today. A turn toward the north-northwest is expected on Friday with a slight decrease in forward speed. On the forecast track the center should pass near or over the southwestern portion of Puerto Rico this morning and across the Mona Passage later today. Gabrielle should then move east of the Turks and the Caicos islands on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next 48 hours.

Gabrielle is a small tropical cyclone. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the centre.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 MB.

Rainfall: Additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are likely now through Friday morning.

Storm Surge: Tides up to 1 foot above normal are possible now through mid-morning today.

Winds: 25mph with gusts of 40mph

THE ANTIGUA MET SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING UNTIL 6 A.M. TODAY THURSDAY HOWEVER THIS MAY BE EXTENDED. A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS. RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO MONITOR GABRIELLE UNTIL THE SYSTEM HAS EXITED THE AREA.

    The ministry of education and the department is so dam incompetent that they announced the school closure at 8:20am when most students were already in school…what a weak bunch
