Update: ESHS Principal Wade W. Tobin released from hospital
This information was confirmed by family spokesman Julian Willock. Mr. Willock told this news site that his “brother was released today”, however, it remains unclear when he will return to work.
Mr. Tobin was admitted to Peebles Hospital on September 21, 2012 after complaining of chest pains.
Mr. Tobin began his tenure as Acting Principal of the largest high school in the Virgin Islands in September of this year after Principal Melissa Amey proceeded on study leave- another story firstly and accurately reported by this news site.
Minister for Education and Culture Myron V. Wawlyn made the official announcement some two months after Virgin Islands News Online broke the story.
"Today I would like to formally announce that Mr. Wade Tobin will now be taking over the leadership of our largest secondary school, the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS). As you all know, Ms. Melissa Amey, Principal of the school is currently on study leave," Hon. Walwyn, said on August 27, 2012 during the Professional Day for Educators held at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, at the H. L. Stoutt Community College.
In his first public appearance on September 7, 2012 as Acting Principal of the ESHS, Mr. Tobin, speaking at the first General Assembly meeting for the 2012/2013 school year held at the Multipurpose Sports Complex, called on all students of the school to respect themselves-girls to be virtuous and boys to stay away from smoking.
In his 25-minute pep-talk to his students, he urged them to help create a `Culture of Excellence.´
