My Pal Shawn defeats Giant Valley
My Pal Shawn was in a no nonsense mood in winning the 7 furlong feature race at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay on Sunday June 5, 2016.
Ridden by Winston Hurst Junior, the horse led its only competitor in the event from wire to wire, with more importantly, an ease rarely seen when facing Giant Valley.
The race card was dubbed the Pre-Emancipation Festival Races.
“No dirt, no sweat, nothing, so clean,” shouted the members of Family Affair Stables, who obviously were out to prove a point.
“We had our plan and we stuck to it,” commented Alex V. Lake
“I could feel Giant Valley on my shoulder heading into the back straight, but I thought to myself so what. I barely had to ask Shawn as he responded immediately and kicked on to the comfortable win I knew we would get,” noted Hurst Jr.
The winning time was 1:31 and 3.
