ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The promoters of the stage show “Embassy saga” performed by the very popular Jamaican crew led by Oliver Samuels, said that they are all set and ready to give the people of the Virgin Islands a show that would have them calling for more.

Last night (Friday March 14, 2014) the full cast mingled with many of their fans and even won the hearts of new fans at the Village Cay marina.

With part sponsorship for one hour, persons did not fail to grab their tickets and were all overheard making plans for up-front seats. While everyone definitely cannot be in the front row the promoters were absolutely certain that everyone would be seated in vantage positions to enjoy the show to the fullest.

The show starts at 8:00pm but the promoters said that the doors would be opened from 6:00pm sharp. “Tonight would be hilarious cause Oliver here,” ranted Oliver Samuel as he was being greeted by fans.

Jamaican promoters team up with BVI F&FC for 60th

- Embassy saga all set to blaze the stage with laughter to assist with expenses for VI 60th Festival Anniversary – Crew already arriving

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands is said to be a place where a great percentage of the workforce and population is made up of persons from other Caribbean Islands and one which thrives mainly on tourism. Cognizant of this fact many of the various Islands have been sharing the joys of annual activities here, with the annual Festival preparing to celebrate its Diamond Jubilee including the Jamaican population.

JC’s Enterprises and Wynter Production have shown that Jamaica is a part of the VI family and casting in their lot they have collaborated with the BVI Festival and Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC) to raise funds for the activities of this year’s Diamond Jubilee festivities and this comes in the form of the play ‘Embassy saga’.

One of the promoters Mr Rohan G. Wynter and the ever popular hilarious Jamaican character Maxwell A. Grant aka Bashie sat with Virgin Islands News Online yesterday afternoon, a few days shy of the staging of the play. The other promoter is Ms Lenia Smith.

“We recognize the importance and significance of this 60th Anniversary and so we decided that we are going to do our bit to ensure that this celebration is well supported, so we have teamed up with the Festivals and Fairs Committee so proceeds from this show would be going towards the committee for the 60th,” said Mr Wynter.

Embassy Saga will hit the stage of the Cultural Center on Saturday March 15, 2014 and in days leading up to the event a number of promotional and otherwise ventures have and will continue to happen for the people of the VI.

‘Bashie’ as he prefers to be called said that he will also be delving into his pockets personally to add his part in giving back to the Territory. He told this news site that on Friday he, along with other crew members are going to be spending one hour at three locations for meet and greet and to share cheers.

“What I am going to be doing at RiteWay for one hour, Digicel main place for one hour and at Village Cay for one hour, every person that comes to buy a ticket for the show I would be putting $5 for them so they would pay $20 and I would pay $5 because the tickets are $25 each,” explained Bashie.

He said that while that would be one of his ways of contributing to the VI’s 60th Festivals committee the other guarantee is that they would have nothing less than their monies worth of laughter and fun at the show.

“One thing that we are sure of that everyone, every single person that comes to that show would be sure to leave well pleased because they are going to get more than $25 worth of real laughter and entertainment,” added Bashie.

Mr Wynter sought to allay the fears of some sections of persons who are of the perception that the main character in the play ‘Oliver Samuel’ is now aged and may not be able to deliver as he did at his younger age.

“That’s a myth, we not saying so because we want you to come but it’s a fact, it seems like the older Oliver gets the hotter he gets with his performance, he is so mellow you wouldn’t believe it, Oliver alongside Dance Hall queen star Ms Audrey Reid is totally rocking, this is going to be something else on Saturday night,” assured Wynter.

Mr Wynter said that they are contemplating a matinée as an anchor or special for school aged children however this would be dependent on the speed and volume of the sale of tickets. “We would love to do that but at this stage we are not seeing the tickets going as fast as we would want it to. I know the BVI persons prefer to purchase their tickets at the door but to do a matinee we would need to see a certain amount of tickets out before we make such a commitment.”

Other members of the cast are expected on Island on Friday. Oliver and the full crew will be at the Village Cay from 9:00pm, Friday March 14 for a special meet and greet.

About Embassy Saga

“THE HOT ROOTS PLAY INFO AND FACTS - On Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Cultural Center, Road Town, the King of Comedy, one of Jamaica's best comedians, Oliver Samuels, in his newest and best production "Embassy saga". The entire VI area will have an opportunity to watch the veteran comedian in action as he combines laughter, suspense, and drama all on one stage.

Embassy saga takes us into the home of Ezekiel, Miriam, Zacky and Rachel who have just moved into an upscale neighbourhood called Embassy heights, Ezekiel, has just return from the United States and re-joins his family. Embassy Saga follows each on as they prepared to make another step together... or not.

Oliver Adolphus Samuels plays Ezekiel, a retired first rate mechanic, who worked for the United States Government at Guantanamo Bay. Ezekiel is ambitious and in an effort to make life easier for his family, he decided they should all migrate. His daughter Rachel is more than excited to go, while Zacky is cautious for several reasons.

His wife however seems to be rejecting the idea all together for reasons he cannot understand. What a saga! Embassy Saga mixes suspense, drama and comedy. The audience will feel at times that they are watching a reality show, but nothing will prepare them for the dramatic end.”

A whole lot about nothing. They getting paid so there is no "teaming up". They aren't doing this because they love the BVI. The girl book them and using Festival as a cover to make money. All these pictures and don't mean squat.

You just vex they not giving you the Music Fest money just go take a damn seat. Regardless of what, it's a good show and people will support. I don't see anything to be negative about here.

Look how you putting people in thing. What music fest have to do with me? This why they need the bill to deal with the online media. Need to get sued by Music Fest for putting them in thing. Truth hurts. There is no teaming up here. Nothing is being donated or given free. The jamaicans getting paid for their service. Simple as that. Everybody getting paid.

At LB. you just jealous. If you look at it both parties get something out of it. If you so cleaver why don't you do something and stop criticising everything. See that is the thing with black people they are always pulling each other down. Nothing good can never be said about anything that is a step in a positive direction. You think you know everthing and you don't know diddly squot.

To Ghadietz and the promoters of the show; it was a job well done, clean, entertaining and true to life. That's Oliver's gift coming through as always. The refreshments were tasty and creative like the ackee and salt fish loaf and the promotion of Jamaican owned businesses in the BVI was a plus.? As a proud Caribbean national though who is specifically BVI born, I did not appreciate the fact that the BVI national song was not played BUT I felt most disrespected, insulted and undermined in my own country when the Jamaican national anthem was played first before the local anthem at the beginning of the show. I have lived many years in Jamaica and have attended many events there and have NEVER experienced any other anthem being played before the Jamaican so why do it here??? This should have never happened and SHOULD NEVER happen again! Sincerely.

I went to the show last night and it was a sold out off the chain show but, the only thing is they play the Jamaica anthem first and the bvi anthem last. I did not like that. One of the jokes that I had really like was when Oliver say what DNA means. Daddy Not Available the crowd when sleep with laughter.
