UPDATE - Charges dropped against Panchie & Wife
Panchie, who was allegedly stabbed by his wife of 12 years, while being crossed examined by Crown Counsel Christilyn Benjamin, informed the court that he would like the matter to be resolved elsewhere than in the Magistrate’s Court. Mr. Jeffers, who faced charges of allegedly causing bodily harm to his wife, stated that it was a decision he made on his own free will, with no bribery.
Mrs. Jeffers, who pleaded not guilty to both charges brought against her, due to lack of evidence coming from the complainant, both charges against her were dropped. She was charged for allegedly wounding her husband and being armed with an offensive weapon.
She had confirmed that an incident did happen on June 6, 2012. Mrs. Jeffers also requested that the charge against her husband be dropped.
Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens dismissed the case and charges against both parties.
Magistrate Stephens recommended that Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers be enrolled in relationship counselling and anger management programmes.
Panchie was represented by Marie-Lou Creque and his wife by Patrick Thompson.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Stephens was also informed that both parties were now living in separate homes.
According to sources, Panchie was allegedly stabbed during an altercation that turned ugly between the couple at their Sophie Bay's residence on June 6, 2012.
The injury was not life threatening, with the businessman allegedly receiving three stitches for the wound. He was later discharged from Peebles Hospital the same evening of June 6.
