UPDATE: CCT launches 4G service
The launching took place at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, Road Town, where droves of excited customers and would be customers of the company’s service and products enjoyed the fun-filled afternoon of activities, including live music, dance performances, face-painting and bouncy castles for children and food and drink in abundance. Of course an array of the company’s products and services was on display and the response was said to be overwhelming.
Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online at the event, Ms Janette N. Brin, Marketing and Public Relations Manager for CCT said March 15, 2014 was the official launch date for the company’s 4G network. “We are also promoting 4G LTE…you would see that on some of our branding, but the service that is being made available currently is the 4G. There is more to come from CCT, this is just the beginning,” she said.
“Current customers and new customers who will be coming on today (yesterday) will be experiencing the 4G network,” said Ms Brin. “A lot of our current customers have been ecstatically happy, there are probably more excited than the staff itself because they have been waiting on this for so long to be able to have that level of data on their mobile devices,” she said.
Ms Brin said that the Freedom One plan is being touted, “as our new Freedom One plan since not only does it have a better quality of data service, but we are giving those customers a massive seven gigabyte data package at no additional cost to them.”
She said that during the promotional period those customers are entitled to $100 off the company’s smartphones and noted that customers also have the ability to customize their plans. “With the new network, we’re life unlimited, we’re business unlimited, we’re fun unlimited, and we’re love unlimited. Part of our commitment is to be better than we were yesterday!” Ms Brin declared.
She said that the company has physically expanded its store space and has increased the hours for business, opening until 6 pm. She said that staff has also been added to improve customer service seven days a week.

LIME & Digicel want CCT gone! - Dr. Heskith A. Vanterpool
- company commits big $$ towards communications industry with the aim of staying on the competitive edge in the VI market
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Yesterday a key stakeholder in the first telecommunications entity in the Virgin Islands, CCT, Dr. Heskith A. Vanterpool made it abundantly clear that they will remain vibrant in the Virgin Islands (VI) as he claimed that research has shown that despite efforts of competitors, LIME and Digicel, to remove CCT from the market, they will continue to survive.
"They are getting upset because we have come out of the ashes and we are coming back very strong, but we have done some research and making alliances and I do not think that it is going to be a simple case where they are going to cause us to disappear from this market,” said Dr Vanterpool admitting that it is evident that the others in the industry are putting a measure of pressure on them.
“…perhaps the pressure that they have already started to put on us is going to help to galvanize support from our people here in the BVI and other people outside trying to help us,” he further stated. “So I think we are going to survive and we are going to survive, and with the help of persons in the BVI, I think we are going to do well enough to fight off that competition.”
The shareholder also said that attempts were made to ‘buy out’ CCT and in the failing efforts the competitors devised hostile strategies which aimed at wiping CCT out. “They have come to try to buy us out and when they could not buy us out, they tried to use other hostile measures and we will not be surprised if they try more hostile measures in the coming weeks to be honest,” posited Dr. Vanterpool.
Plugging some $10 million dollars investment into CCT which encapsulates new management, CCT Chief Executive Officer Mr. Romney Averad Penn that they are all geared to hit customers with a bang when they have their official new launch activities on March 14 and 15, 2014 with the latter to be held at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, Road Town.
"We are coming with the real 4G,” impressed Mr Penn as he further added, “It is going to be a huge upgrade over the network that we have now. Much, much faster data speed. We are coming with more new plans. We are still keeping a lot of the same unlimited characteristics of the plans that we have now, but we are coming with new and exciting options as well.”
“We are finally to that stage where we get to make some noise and tell the public what is coming soon,” said CEO Penn.

Does the US Stock Exchange list for the public all the share holders of the various companies on the stock exchange???? Stop trying to make something out of nothing ... Knowing who the shareholders are isn't something for the public to be concern so much with ... It's neither here or there who they are.
The hold up with the LTE well something doesn't seem right with TRC. And they seem to be scared of Digicel.
I'm not sure why everyone thinks that NDP keeping CCT alive ... and so what if they are ... why would any government of the BVI want to allow locally own businesses to fail??? Why do BVIlanders tend to want people they live and grow up with to fail ... I can't understand the self hate in this country
I'm not sure what you consider a proper promotion but Double Top Up is one of the contributing factors to CCT's troubles. Perhaps if they had better financial management they would of known to cut back on them a long time ago.
And actually - if you paying any of these companies they ARE doing something for you. They providing you a service that you either need or want. So if your service provider ain't doing nothing for you why do you buy the service or use it. At the end of the day it boils down to personal choice based on your specific needs or wants .. nothing personal - I guess until you can't make that phone call you need to make.
Your obviously not a die hard CCT or you would know about CCT community contributions over the years. And You sound like one of them jealous BVIlanders that don't like when a local person does well.
It has been no secret that the company has been under financial strain so they haven't been doing sponsorship. Take it easy as they rebuild .. gosh people ain't easy in the BVI
What is CCT launching? HSPA+ or 3.75G (same technology that Digicel and Lime are using)
When asked about LTE, CCT is saying that they are going to implement it for business and residential connections, but not on phones. And which they have not released yet. So, their plans are to our phones on outdated technology, even when they have a newer one available.
LTE and LTE-A are not the same. LTE-A requires a further upgrade
Isn't there any laws or regulations in this country for false advertising?
