BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has since confirmed our story that a bar in Baughers Bay was robbed on October 8, 2012.

The bar is known as Lindon’s Bar and is situated opposite Paula’s Bar in Baughers Bay.

According to a press release from the RVIPF, the proprietor stated that he was about to close the bar around 2 A.M. when two masked men entered dressed in black clothing and brandishing handguns.

The assailants demanded money and took the night’s taking from the register. One assailant then ripped a gold chain valued $500 from the proprietor’s neck and left the scene.

Neither the proprietor nor the customers that were at the bar at the time were harmed, the release stated.

Police said the armed Immediate Response Unit, which was at the scene shortly after the incident, continues their search for possible suspects.

Trinidad national allegedly found with loaded pistol

Meanwhile, the RVIPF stated that less than 24 hours prior to this incident, Police charged 27-year-old Jamal Lewis, a native of Trinidad residing aboard Tortola Services, a barge berth at West End for Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Explosive after a search of his person resulted in the recovery of a loaded 38 calibre pistol.

The search was carried out after a man report that Lewis had assaulted him with a gun at an entertainment venue on Tortola.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is encouraging members of the public to do their part in reducing the number of guns in the Territory.  Persons who know of individuals in possession of guns can report this information to any police office and any station in the Territory. This information will greatly assist the officers now dedicated to the task of removing these weapons from the Territory.

Instead of putting all the responsibility on politicians to prevent crimes, we as members of the community need to rise up and help them!! We need to start back teaching our children right from wrong and start helping police with their investigations; If you know something speak up!!! It isn't going to get any better until we start making an effort!!!

To ooooo its a pity the place is how it is when we have idiots like you walking around. To "Tired of People..." thanks for putting the fool in his/her place. We are all responsible for our own actions, regardless of which government is in or out and which president is in or out. We have to take responsibility for training out children. Is the government the parents of people? Does the Premier and the rest of the government sleep and dine in our homes? We are each responsible for our own actions and its time we stop this crap about NDP/VIP.
