Now the whole world got to see what a joke we've become in sports again. If we are going to compete with the rest of the world, we have to train like the rest of the world.

Let's start with basketball with what someone called the Road Town Mafia. Derwin as head trainer of basketball? He never grew up playing the sport? Bash a good hearted dude you know, but don't have knowledge for world stage. Check his record. I believe he only coach to one victory in how many years.

For every sport here on the island we have trained professionals, but because of us and our politics we don't allow them to do their job. Let's start keeping our locals local and leave the world stage for those more qualied otherwise we will never compete worldwide.

So you are saying we don't have no one born here to teach our young athletes? That's just nonsense

Maybe the ones that do it are not fully qualified, but there are people who can that are home grown! Trus

The sport of basketball is taken on a much more serious not in many other Caribbean and south American countries that were a part of this tournament. Alot of these kids in the BVI lack the proper discipline to compete on that level in terms of preparation. However I must say in order for the teams to be competitive, there must be resources and funding in place to help aid in their preparations. From young children must be thought the proper fundamentals of the game in order to progress. Kids must also be thought about healthy eating, getting the proper rest for their bodies, working out on a consistent basis and working on their game when they're alone. I don't see why our athletes shouldn't be well drilled in these areas, therefore becoming well disciplined athletes and embracing the competition when it comes. I Think the BVI has alot of guys who knows what it takes to prepare these boys for such tournaments because they have the experience not only playing on a high level themselves but also being drilled by coaches who have experience on many levels. It's high time we start to take a hard look at some of these individuals and see what they can bring to the table in terms of knowledge and experience.

    @ don't talk much

That's well and good but just like in all the other sports here adults egos are blocking kids from getting properly trained. We have a coach here fron states for basketball, one here fron britain for football and another for cricket and local adults tell kids training with these guys is a waste.

I know for a fact that certain kids are put in front of coaches in track because of their last names while better kids are not because of politics.

Let's utilize the professionals we have here in all sports and elevate our level of competition. Oh and shame on the government for not help sports programs here. Youth and sports is for what? So guys can sit on their butts and plan parades for when we get lucky enough to win some where.

Winning is not luck its by design, just ask Bolt or my favorite team Miami Heat!
