UPDATE: Businessman Alvin R. Pickering pronounced dead



He has been identified as local businessman, Mr Alvin R. Pickering.
Mr Pickering was reportedly having a swim when persons noticed he was suddenly motionless, with face down in the water.
He was pulled to shore by a friend of his, who was swimming with him at the time, and the victim's grandson, persons on the scene told our newsroom.
CPR was reportedly administered by a public spirited person before Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived on the scene.
Mr Pickering was then taken to Peebles Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Acting Press Officer for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), Ms Akia L. Thomas, also confirmed to this news site that Mr Pickering had succumbed.
"I can confirm that the person pulled from the water earlier today has died," Ms Thomas said.
The Management and Staff of Advance Marketing and Professional Services, the parent company of Virgin Islands News Online, extend condolences to the family and friends of Mr Alvin R. Pickering.

'Unresponsive' male pulled from water @ Baughers Bay
A sea bather, identified as 'Big Brother' was pulled from the sea water near CSY Dock in Baughers Bay, Tortola, in an "unresponsive" state, according to reports just reaching our newsroom, May 22, 2019.
According to persons on the scene, the man, along with two other persons, including his grandson, went for a "swim".
'Big Brother' subsequently appeared to be motionless, with face down, in the water and was pulled from the water but was said to not be responding.
Perons on the CSY dock were alerted and someone said to be trained in administering CPR attended to the man until EMTs arrived.
The incident occurred around 5:15pm.
The man has since been taken to Peebles Hospital by ambulance.
