UPDATE: Boat race is on! Brewers Bay to Steel Point! Action time!
It is expected to be a show down among Ricardo S. Leonard aka 'Sammy' of Virgin Gorda with his go fast boat Big Pimpin, Alvin Hodge aka 'Tattoo' with his speed machine 'Tempo', and Loring George's boat, unofficially named Ram Cat. The other two boats are made by Nor-Techs and Sammy’s type of boat is a 36 Skater.
It is also our newsroom understanding that Michael Thomas’ boat is in the water and no word from Klenton Pickering aka ‘Chungo’.
The route is from Brewers Bay to Steel Point on the North Side of Tortola although the water seems to be a bit choppy. It is still unclear the final amount of boats that will enter the race; however, the excitement, onlookers and ‘paparazzis’ have been building since 12:00 noon today Sunday June 11, 2017.

Is the ‘Mother of all Boat Races’ on for June 11, 2017?

The hype is building for the 'Mother of All Boat Races' in the Virgin Islands sea waters on Sunday June 11, 2017.
With all the trash talk, social network posts, videos, and who is a coward, the race among arguably the three fastest boats in the Virgin Islands (VI), is expected to finally take place.
It should be a clash between Ricardo S. Leonard aka 'Sammy' of Virgin Gorda with his go fast boat Big Pimpin, Alvin Hodge aka 'Tattoo' with his speed machine 'Tempo', and Loring George's boat, unofficially named Ram Cat. The other two boats are made by Nor-Techs and Sammy’s type of boat is a 36 Skater.
There are also unofficial reports that the race will also include Michael Thomas aka 'Cudgy' of Clarence Thomas Ltd, and Klenton Pickering aka 'Chungo', but these reports have not been confirmed.
The anticipation is extremely high as many of the boat men are said to be ready after bringing in overseas boat mechanics to ensure their boats are in top form and the engines are ready to roar.
Start time & route
The big boat race is to start at 1:30 PM and there are two options of routes depending on weather. One will be from Road Harbour to Fort Recovery on the western end of Tortola, if the sea is calm. If the sea is rough, the showdown will be from Brewers Bay to Steel Point on the North Side of Tortola.
While it is our understanding that no money prizes are involved, as the boat owners are racing for bragging rights, many of the fans and the public in general have wagered (bet) big money on the race.
Many fans and boat enthusiasts will be on the shores while others will be on the sea lanes in power boats to view the battle of 'who is who' in VI waters. As of now, Sammy with Big Pimpin is the favourite to win.

Sophia M. Rubaine-Brooks aka 'Sophia B' with her Talk on All has also been keeping the public updated with her social networks post on the big and highly anticipated boat race scheduled for Sunday June 11, 2017 from around 1:30 PM Tortola time.
In addition, because of the hype, other boats are “threatening” to join the race but we will just have to wait and see when the lineup starts.
