It was at today’s April 20, 2017 continuation of the Sixth Sitting of the Second Session of the Third House of Assembly (HoA) that the body supported the motion to make Mrs Ayana I. Glasgow-Liburd the new Chairwomen of the BVIHSA.
The motion was brought to the HoA by Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL).
Mrs Glasgow-Liburd, who served as the Deputy Chairperson under Bishop Cline, enjoyed the support from all sides of the isle.
Leader of the Opposition Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) was one of the few who made reference to how Mr Cline’s tenure was ended when he was forced to resign after using his freedom of speech rights to agree with National Democratic Party spokeswoman and former legislator Mrs Eileene L. Parsons OBE, who called for the Ministry of Finance to be removed from Premier Smith and given to Hon Skelton.
The new Chairwoman, Mrs Glasgow-Liburd, will serve for 2 years with immediate effect.

Ayana I. Glasgow-Liburd In! John I. Cline Out! as BVIHSA Chair
- Incoming Chairwoman enjoys the support of the former Chairman Bishop John I. Cline
Four months after Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL) forced former BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) Board Chairman John I. Cline to resign or face sacking, a new Chairperson will be appointed.
Deputy Chairperson of the Board, Mrs Ayana I. Glasgow-Liburd will become the new Chairwoman of the Authority when the House of Assembly (HoA) meets on April 18, 2017.
Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), an ally of former Chairman Bishop Cline, will move a motion to appoint Mrs Glasgow-Liburd as the new Chairwoman of the Board which falls under his Ministry.
I support her- John I. Cline
Former Chairman Cline said he supports Mrs Glasgow-Liburd’s appointment as she was an "effective deputy" and did "a wonderful job." Speaking exclusively to our newsroom, he said he is in agreement with her appointment as the Virgin Islands must be strategic with whom we appoint in the health care sector.
When asked if he regretted being sacked by Premier Smith, Mr Cline responded "it's their loss...We were doing a great job, there was no need for such to happen, but I am good."
Leader of Government Business Dr Smith forced the Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Skelton to ask for Mr Cline’s resignation because the religious leader agreed with National Democratic Party spokeswoman Mrs Eileene L. Parsons OBE that the portfolio of Minister of Finance should be given to Mr Skelton.
She has degrees, management experience
The incoming BVI Health Services Authority Chairwoman, Mrs Glasgow-Liburd holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, along with an MBA in Global Management. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a Fellow of the International Compliance Association.
She is the Chief Executive Officer at Aleman, Cordero, Galindo & Lee Trust (BVI) Limited. The House of Assembly meeting of April 18, 2017 will be carried live on CBN Channel 51 at 10:00 AM.
