SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Five persons were injured when the driver of an SUV lost control of his vehicle at Sea Cows Bay on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

The vehicle took out a utility pole before ending up turning turtle on the side of the road.

Three of the injured were hospitalised.

It is unclear what was the cause of the mishap.

Police have been investigating the incident.

"As investigations into yesterday's lone-vehicle accident on the hill above Sea Cows Bay continue, Police can confirm that five persons were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

"Three of the five were detained for further treatment. The other two were discharged," Police Information Officer Diane L Drayton stated today, July 10, 2023.

Several persons involved in vehicular accident in SCB

An accident in Sea Cows Bay this afternoon, Sunday, July 9, 2023, involved at least 4 persons in a vehicle that ended up turning turtle.

It is unclear at this time what were the circumstances surrounding what appears to be a one-vehicle accident; however, a video clip sent to our news centre shows at least 5 persons on the scene, three of whom were lying on the roadway and one person was sitting on the side of the road.

The other person appeared to be checking on two of the injured persons.

In the background was an overturned vehicle and a felled utility pole.

It is unclear if anyone was seriously hurt.

Police have confirmed the accident, which reportedly took place around 6:00 PM.

“The RVIPF can confirm that officers reported to the scene of an accident above Sea Cows Bay. No details of cause or injuries are available at this time,” Police Information Officer Diane L. Drayton told our newsroom.

Unconfirmed reports are the accident took place on the road referred to as ‘Elevator Hill’.
