UPDATE: 5 illegal immigrants repatriated - Ian B. Penn
The five persons believed to be from the Communist island of Cuba, were apprehended in a joint operation comprising Immigration Officers and Officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force on Monday.
“[With regard to the] five persons who landed on Peter Island on Monday, they were repatriated yesterday (Tuesday),” said Penn to this news site.
A source had informed this news site that the persons were under surveillance for a while and were nabbed here in this territory.
“Was five of them, mainly women. They were on international radar but were caught when they arrived in BVI waters,” the source had told Virgin Islands News Online.

Illegal immigrants intercepted off Peter Island
Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that five illegal immigrants were intercepted aboard a vessel off Peter Island, yesterday May 23, 2016.
“Was five of them, mainly women. They were on international radar but were caught when they arrived in BVI waters,” a source told Virgin Islands News Online.
According to unconfirmed reports, four of the five illegal aliens were women. All of the persons detained are said to be Cuba nationals.
It is not clear their intended destination.
Acting Chief Immigration Officer Ian B. Penn promised to get back to us when contacted but did not at the time of publication while his Deputy Guy M. Hill referred us to Penn.
Meanwhile, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton confirmed that illegal immigrants were intercepted with assistance from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force but advised this news site to contact Immigration authorities for details.
