2 reportedly held for questioning in Riteway Robbery
Information reaching Virgin Islands News Online from our Team of Reporters is that ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) conducted raids this morning, July 7, 2016 and held persons for questioning in relation to the armed robbery on Riteway Food Market in Flemming Street on June 13, 2016.
Cash was reportedly taken by the two masked men who pounced on the business establishment sometime around 8:00 P.M.
“Two masked persons came from the back of the building around 8:00 P.M. and walked through the main entrance doors into the supermarket. One discharged a round of ammunition and demanded money from the cashiers. They then both fled the scene the same way they came with monies from two of the cash registers. No persons were injured in the incident,” a press release from the RVIPF on June 14, 2016 stated.
According to reports reaching this news site, Police raided a home in Road Town sometime around 6:00A.M. and held one person for questioning. They then reportedly raided another home, but in Baughers Bay, and another person was held.
It is not clear whether the persons have since been released or charged with any offence.
