UPDATE: 3-mth baby involved in Brandywine Bay accident

- no injuries reported; RVIPF said 3 accidents occurred last weekend

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A three-month old baby was among persons involved in an accident that Virgin Islands News Online reported on last Sunday morning, April 12, 2015.

A sports utility vehicle (SUV) had ended up on its side following an accident at Brandywine Bay, Tortola on Saturday night, April 11, 2015.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), an officer of Fire and Rescue Services notified Police that they had responded to a 911 call at Brandywine Bay where the occupants of an overturned vehicle had been taken to Peebles Hospital, having been removed from the vehicle by drivers in the vicinity.

“The female driver and two other occupants, including a three-month-old male, were medically examined and immediately discharged with no injuries,” a press release from the RVIPF stated.

It is still unclear what were the circumstances surrounding the accident, but according to the RVIPF, the vehicle sustained severe fire damage.

Other accidents

According to police, Police received reports on two other road traffic collisions on Saturday evening, April 11, 2015. All of the accidents, it said, resulted in minor injuries to the occupants.

“In the first collision, reported to Police around 4:30pm, the father of a six-year-old boy stated that his son was injured in the leg by a vehicle. Inquiries indicated that the injuries were sustained while a taxi van was reversing onto Little Dix Hill. The leg injuries appeared to be minor.”

In the last report, Police said it responded around 11:30pm to a two vehicle collision on the James Walter Francis Highway in the vicinity of the Treasure Isle Hotel. The accident also resulted in damage to the median. “Only one driver was taken to hospital but was discharged with minor injuries. The cause of the collision is still to be determined,” the press release stated.

SUV topples in accident @ Brandywine Bay

A sports utility vehicle (SUV) last night April 11, 2015 ended up on its side following an accident at Brandywine Bay, Tortola.

It is unclear what were the circumstances surrounding the accident, however, Chief Fire Officer Zebalon A. McLean confirmed that the accident did occur.

It is not clear if there were any injuries.

Details regarding the accident from Public Relations Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Diane Drayton were not received up to press time.
