Dementia and Alzheimer are horrific life changing diseases which are increasing in the BVI, affecting families. The diseases are occurring at younger ages. Something changed in the VI from say the 1960s that is causing the increasing number of cases. Dr. Hon Premier Natalio Wheatley must launch a bold, aggressive, and widespread research and investigative effort into finding the change that may contributing to the increasing numbers, ie, increasing consumption of processed foods, sedentary life style, etc. Government matters and are expected to engaging in Big Projects that could have positive outcomes and leave a positive, lasting legacy. Healthcare is the major issue in the BVI.

Indeed, health is the major issue in the Vi, not should be. The VI suffers from a number of chronic diseases, ie, hyper tension ( pressure), diabetes ( sugar), obesity, etc. Dr, Hillary Beckles, UWI chancellor and Chairman of Reparation Commission, notes that the Caribbean region is per capita the most unhealthy region in the world, afflicted with a number of chronic diseases, pressure, sugar, etc. The connecting link is poor diet slaves were fed during slavery, ie, sugary, salty, etc. Consequently, the people in the region are suffering from the socioeconomic, and pathological legacies of slavery and colonialism. Nevertheless, the ball is in court. We must invest in and fo the things to keep the nation healthy. A healthy nation is a progressing nation. Agree that dementia and Alzheimer are horrible and life changing diseases. As such, the VI must invest and engage in a comprehensive study to identify the changes that may be contributing to the increasing number of cases. The occurrence in younger generation is particularly troubling. As you noted, government matters. This emerging issue is truly something that matters.

The cell phone towers that is in close proximity of the general population, might be a contributing factor to the increasing number of the illnesses.

@Politicsl Analyst, no stone should be left unturned in exploring possible causes. Government needs to work with external partners in its all out effort in investigating the issue. This is an issue perhaps the UK can help with.
