PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Test results conducted on three One Mart employees on Sunday, June 27, 2021, show that two of the three staff members have contracted COVID-19.

On Monday, June 28, 2021, One Mart said in a statement that three staff members were showing signs of COVID-19 and were tested and awaiting their results.

However, via a statement received last night, the Management of One Mart Supermarket and Food Service Division confirmed that the employees were diagnosed with the virus.

"Our prayers go out to them for a safe and speedy recovery. In the interest of the safety of all staff and customers, we have asked all unvaccinated workers to quarantine at home until further notice. We are pleased that 75% of our 140 workers are fully vaccinated and will continue to serve our customers,” the company said through the statement.

The company then encouraged all other staff to get vaccinated as soon as possible for their own safety, adding that at the same time, they “appreciate that persons have medical and other reasons for not vaccinating.”

“We continue to follow all COVID 19 requirements as recommended by the Government. However, we lend our voice to encouraging all in the BVI to get vaccinated as soon as possible if you can.”

You all need to stop your propaganda, vaccinated persons can catch this virus as well, and the new strains out there also. All employees should be quarantined.

Vaccinated staff and customers don't have too much to worry about - even if they get the virus, the effects are likely to be minimal. However, unvaccinated persons need to STAY HOME - you are at high risk of death.

Since you seem not to be able to absorb the facts here they are again....
Vaccinated persons have a MUCH LOWER CHANCE of catching the virus. Vaccinated persons have a MUCH LOWER CHANCE of passing the virus on. Vaccinated persons have a 0% chance of death and a very very LOW chance of hospitalization.... vaccination is important. For everyone who wants to argue otherwise... watch people start dying.... then see how you feel.... The IGNORANCE and SELFISH attitude is depressing but not surprising.....

A lower chance is still a 'chance'! There is no immunity, and with the new strains approaching, the vaccinated will have to be much or careful. Stop making it seem as if being vaccinated is the cure.

          what is your point

i born meet people drinking cough medicine and drink all type of bush for the cold and those same people still catches the cold

a vaccine simply offer great resistance to a given illness. big deal, vaccinating been around for years but some of us acting like covid vaccine is a new Scientific invention

what went wrong; Hon Malone and health department should have asked the Governor to deal with promoting being vaccinated and most of us would have rush with the quickness down government house for that vaccine

          God save our Gracious Queen

That could definitely be how it happened... and as more people come back it will get worse. If you had your vaccine you don't need to worry - you might get a mild illness but you will be fine... if you are NOT vaccinated then you should be seriously concerned and stay at home. Choose wisely.

Vaccinated persons are responsible for bringing in COVID. They are not being tested upon entry. They are a big threat to everyone.
    • really?? (29/06/2021, 10:09) Like (6) Dislike (11) Reply
This is exactly why you must protect yourself and get vaccinated. You cant have it both ways. One one hand you want the Country to open up so you can work, but on the other you complaining about people bringing in the virus. Sure that may be true but you stand a greater chance of being hospitalized or even death if you don't protect yourself and your family and close acquaintances. Lower those chances by getting vaccinated and stop being so selfish and being an Ass.

Tortola is too small and dependent to stay lock down forever!!

Because many vaccinated persons are acting as if they are cured, they wear their mask below their nose and act like they are immune to this virus. I have seen a few workers cashing with their mask below their nose. I hope they know that there are other strains out there that they have not taken a vaccination for?

Remember you are not fully vaccinated until at least 2 weeks after your second shot. So within that time you are still vulnerable to the virus. Also nothing in this world is full proof. You get sick you go to the doctor, medicine is prescribed it makes you better for a while and the symptoms return.

Those at the entrance to the supermarket to monitor protocols are adhered to are becoming very relaxed. Almost every time I go there I see people just walking in without washing their hands or sanitizing. While they are in the supermarket their masks are not covering their nose. The carts aren’t sanitized like before and the ones returned after being used, immediately go to the same area as the unused ones. Everywhere you go on island, people are totally relaxed and not following any kind of protocol. We’ve forgotten there is a pandemic. As for the conspiracy theories, it is so sad and disappointing the stupidity we face. Instead of us doing our own educated research, we follow others who don’t know squiggly do about anything, and get caught up with the hype that vaccines aren’t good. Situations like this show the true colors of some. Even some government legislators are against the vaccine and telling others not to take it. Our country will sink from stupidity.

The supermarkets are dropping the ball. They are definitely not sanitizing the shopping carts.

The sinks are so far away at a particular supermarket , it hard for security to see if you did wash hands.

We have been doing an amazing job so far. Let’s not drop the ball now.
