The NDP victory brought a major political shift to the country that had been under the leadership of Dr Ralph E. Gonsalves and the United Labour Party (ULP) since 2001.
The Caribbean country of a population of just over 100,600 residents voted in Dr Godwin E.L. Friday as its seventh Prime Minister. Godwin is an attorney by profession who had unsuccessfully run for office in the 2020 general elections.
Dr Friday, in a short post to his Facebook account, wrote, "Thank you to the people of SVG!"
A flyer also posted to his account stated, "A united Vincentian voice has spoken. Today, history was written by the hands of the people. Tomorrow, we build it together."
The swearing-in ceremony for St Vincent’s new Prime Minister is set for 5 PM today, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Government House.

You can go England with your UK passport and get really good help with jobs, health care and assistance if you are unemployed and in need of a job. Tortola is just getting more and more expensive for the average person to survive.
Moreover, what happened yesterday was democracy in action, laws of motion in action, political tectonic plates rumbling and shifting, blowing off and ignoring harbingers( signs ) , disdain for building extractive institutions(power, influence, status in control of a select few), not inclusive institutions; getting drunk on power, believing false mirages, etc. The political lessons, if any, are that leadership is about behavior, ie, words, words in print, etc., is not as effective and powerful as “words in action.” Another lesson(s) is that political power, image, etc., have a shelf life; political fatigue is real. It is about public interest. Is democracy ideal and working?
Sir Winston Churchill says democracy is the worst form of government, save for all the rest that have been tried. Another wise sage notes “A democracy is always temporary in nature. It cannot exist exist as a permanent form of government. “ A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.” “ “From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury , with result that every democracy will finally collapse, due to loose fiscal policy which is always followed by a dictatorship.” This is deep and profound, rolling towards the death of democracy. Nonetheless, democracy is still functional, if the people, the masses get and stay civically and socially engaged, holding elected and appointed members accountable and responsible. Further, it seems apparent that the electorate is throwing cold water, showing a disdain for hereditary politics, consanguinity politics, etc.
On paper SVG look awesome on infrastructure growth. Is this appearance a mirage? Did the shellacking, whitewashing, beat down as you say reflective of Vincentians view and vote on Thursday? So democracy last as long as people can goodies from the treasuries. What a ting to tell the king. Is the political shockwave in SVG a wake up call in the region or just a bump in the road? Did the clean sweep by NNP in Grenada in 1999. And 2013, and BLP in 2018 in Barbados result in a paradigm shift? Is the lesson in SVG means that politicians must know when to exit the scene and avoid being kicked and dragged to the curb?
What he is doing ??
Who he’s representing???
He need to be send home next election..
