ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has reminded owners of seized motor scooters or motorcycles that their machines will be sold, auctioned off or destroyed if left unclaimed.

“The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is reminding owners of seized scooters and motorcycles that these items can be collected at the Road Town Police Stations with proof of ownership.

“Seized scooters or cycles that are unclaimed by owners will either be sold on auction or destroyed,” the RVIPF informed via a bulletin today, June 3, 2021.

Meanwhile, police have recently stepped up their campaign against traffic violators and many motor scooters have been seized as a result.

The police seizing a scooter from the person riding the scooter at the time, doesn’t mean that the person is the owner of the scooter. Just be happy that they are getting them back to be a nuisance around the place and stop looking for something to complain about.

Everything is about money to the government but they are slow to give you money that belongs to you. Why not give back these scooters? Selling and auctioning them will do what? Exactly PUT THEM BACK ON THE STREET so why not give them back…MONEY HUNGRY MS

So lately I have noticed less and less of motor bikes harassing me as I try to simple go about my life. Why without a helmet and on a BIKE, do these folks think they should be able to use the "non existant MIDDLE LANE" to roar in between traffic and then run RED lights, an d also to do wheelies to the extent that if they fall over backwards they will kill themselves and cause on coming traffic to run them over after wards.. I am sick of their tyrany

So all the owners have to do is claim their bike, without showing any proof that they have fixed the issues that resulted in the bike being confiscated in the first place?????? Are these people mad?

Why were they seized just to be given back or sold? Seriously, what was the reason they were seized?

Firstly, ban them all. But if we just have these glorified hair dryers, why doesn’t the DMV simply fail a bikes licensing if the exhaust noise exceeds a certain decibel? A simple 2 second test would do the trick and allow a huge number of us to get a good nights sleep and in turn boosting our economy through increased productivity.

Only those that are unclaimed by owners are sold. Once person comes with proof of ownership, license and insurance and have proper muffler and a helmet if rider is going to ride away.

The law should be enforced for wearing helmet and yes no modification of the exhaust system however scooters should be allowed to ride the middle lane it just makes sense why would you sit in traffic on a scooter.
