ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- One lucky and very deserving girl who will be graduating from a secondary school in the Virgin Islands will be the recipient of a ‘Prom Makeover’ sponsored by UMI Fashions.

Owner of UMI Fashions, Deborah Reynolds told the students of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) the good news at her mini Prom Fashion Show yesterday evening June 8, 2012, at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

Ms. Reynolds informed this news site that UMI fashions will be offering one lucky girl with a prom make over. She added that the girl selected will be nominated by students of the graduating classes.

“The girl has to be deserving of the makeover, where she will receive everything she needs for prom, from her hair right down to her shoes.”

Reynolds said following the selection of the makeover winner, UMI fashions will then surprise her with the news that she has been selected for the ‘UMI Prom Makeover’. She added that the makeover will be taped and no one will know who the winner is until it is revealed by UMI later in the prom.

She stated that the makeover is not limited to the ESHS, but to every secondary graduating class in the Territory.

To nominate this deserving student, students are asked to visit the Face Book page belonging to UMI Fashions and send a message with that person’s name.

Prom Fashion Show

To showcase their wide range of prom inventory, UMI Fashions was instrumental in organising a Mini Fashion show for the students and teachers of the Elmore Stoutt High School.

The aim of the show, according to Ms. Reynolds was to show the students ahead of prom time what the trend is for this year and a glimpse of some of the many dresses they can have for their special night.

“So we came up with the idea to promote it through a prom fashion show case”, said the owner of the retail store.

Prom dresses ranges from couture dresses to conservative dresses were shown to the students.

She stated that this is the first time for the show but it won’t be the last. She added that UMI Fashions is the type of business that loves promotion and always find ways to market their products.

“We love finding different ways to reach the people and show them what we have to offer.”

Ms. Reynolds said that every dress that was showcased at the fashion show could be found at her retail store in Road Town, along with special ordering services and special fitting services.

“What the girls saw here was just five percent of our stock. We have so many dresses to offer to the girls in store and from our catalogue.”

She informed this news site that through the special ordering services girls can order their special dresses from the catalogues up to a week before their prom night, where the dress will then be brought in through FedEx, reaching the VI.

The models featured in the Prom Fashion Show were students of the 2012 graduating class at the Elmore Stoutt High School along with teachers.

The next event for UMI fashion is the Funky Friday Fashion Show on June 15 2012, featuring community dads for Father’s day.

UMI did this same jesture a few years back to 2 deserving students of ESHS that were chosen based on who the students thought was deserving as they didnt necessarily had much financial support and had ruff times finishing high school but they were ambitious and the students when they saw them on prom night a few began to cry. I myself shed a few tears of joy as Debbie and her crew did a marvelous job they looked stunning showed up in limo in all. These were kids not use to all the glamour and visits to the hairdresser etc. I am glad to see her do it all again.
