TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Terrance B Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island welcomed the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force (RAF) new A400 aircraft today, August 16, 2023.

According to the Office of the Governor on its Facebook page, the planned stop is part of the RAF’s essential training to ensure the crews have "valuable familiarisation of landing the large aircraft in BVI" if an emergency were to arise.

On the brief visit the crew spoke to airport officials on a range of matters including disaster response.
According to the Office of the Governor, the UK also has a Royal Navy vessel in the region during hurricane season, which stands ready to support the VI in the event of a disaster.

You hit the nail on the head. Hope no repeat of man made I & M storms in their plans. If so, Jehovah still love BVI and saved the lives of many because of the prayers of the prayer warriors.

One thing with the colonial masters is they know how to market their strategy to always make it look like an innocent caring maneuver when in fact it is something else but they blind most of the public with the true purpose. This time they call it a FAMILIARIZATION TRIP! SMDH!!!

Just like what they are doing as we speak in Niger, Africa. Glad that all the other African countries are starting to stand up against the colonial oppression.

The Governor want all the BVI business out in the open under transparency and good governance, but he hides these things and what he is doing until it happens. What hypocrisy.

Thank you governor for acting proactively. Wish i could say the same for the Premier. Everywhere they go they mention Irma Irma but how ready is the country if another Irma were to come seriously. And to the naysayers, if things go south and we find prisoners on the loose again, guess who you will be expecting to protect you. DEFINITELY NOT THE RVIPF!! Grateful for the governor and for the command forces from the UK. Thank you for your service!

You can tell you are not well researched, or you would not post foolishness. Last time the only thing the British brought after Irma were body bags because they thought most of us in BVI were dead. The BVI and its people are resilient and always come together in time of need to bounce back from all disasters and pandemics. The Governor, UK, and RVIPF all failed the people of the BVI after Irma.

This is a evidence as to why we need Britain in our corner, we have no capability to save ourselves during a serious emergency natural or man made.. I Hope this is part of the plan to fix the BVI and eliminate corruption...

If the British was planning to invade/takeover this small place they would have already gathered all strategic information since they had the run of the Islands during the 2017 storms. Another thing who would stop them if they wish to do so? Some people just love to turn everything into drama.

Sorry but my view is that the British did an exceptionally poor job after Irma. We had
Military in the streets doing check points, and we were an occupied colony

    We need self determination fast

You're a disgrace with a short term memory. Even the RVIPF had members looting. People were scared of prisoners on the loose. Rapists, murderers!

The UK armed forces made the BVI safe from ourselves.

how can the british takeover what already belongs to them/ when that pandemic started it is because of the same british our people were able to get items to keep us/ ask the health department

The descendants of the Slave can now embrace certain privileges: with the BVI Passport we can go USVI no Visa| with the UK Travel Document you enter USA no Visa

Our children can travel to London Town for education that is not being offered in Road Town

The people of this country can travel to Great Britain and work

Our people have the option to obtain the UK Passport and explore better ways of Living

Look around our country in 2023 makes want to shake your head; my goodness the potholes| in 2023 there are still issues with street water| power outages here and there

there is ample funding for entertainment but our infrastructure is very shabby

what have to said: it is our people that build this territory after those British run left the black peoples)the Cotton Markets & Sugar Cane Markets Crash, therefore the Slave Trade was no longer lucrative(slave masters ran away……

The territory was label a bird sanctuary___

From 1834 to 2023 our forefathers and mothers developed what you see today

The British are now simply mingling because of what they see in the British Overseas Territory…..

Our country now have a nice tourism industry
Our country now have a nice financial industry

through it all our people back them moved forward with action…back then all we had were dirt roads we can now move around this territory much better) positive action) people like Mr Noel Lloyd and Mr Lindy Decastro stood tall with action

most we have now is a set of talk from month to month

The world is slowly moving to a WW3 now that BRICS is forming and looking to put US dollar on out of business. Russia and China are increasing their military force is CUBA. So what you expect the USA and BRITISH to do. Yes we are in the hurricane season now, however we are also in the midst a very serious life changing moment in history now and we all need to be prepared.
