BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – ZBVI 780AM 'Honestly Speaking' radio show host Claude O. Skelton-Cline has reiterated calls for leadership in the Virgin Islands (VI) to come together and fight attacks on the Territory.

“I have registered my disappointment with leadership in both parties regarding either the unwillingness or the inability for all of them to come together as leaders. That means existing, former legislators of all party stripes to come together and agree on this one single thing,” he said.

More lingering behind the veil?

He called on the Virgin Islands to see the bigger picture behind what is happening in the territory, “What's happening is a sideshow and it really does not speak to what's going on and there's a difference between what's happening and what's going on.”

“I need you and us to get behind what's going on,” he said, as uncertainly lingers about the outcome of the ongoing 'suspicious' Commission of Inquiry (CoI) being executed by the United Kingdom in the Virgin Islands (VI).

“On the matter of the UK taking over this country in any shape or form must be unacceptable”

Skelton-Cline further posited that there has been failure and inability or unwillingness for the political leadership, past and present in the territory to send a clear message to the people of this Virgin Islands regarding what is at stake.

'Fight together against any attempt by UK to run VI

“Though we don't agree on everything, on this matter we must agree, and we must fight together to push back against any attempt by the United Kingdom in any shape, form or fashion, direct rule, indirect rule or otherwise in running the affairs of this country,” he said.

At the end of the Inquiry, lone Commissioner Sir Gary R. Hickinbottom QC will provide a report of his findings and his recommendations for the next steps to the Governor for the Governor’s consideration.

While UK claims that the CoI is to investigate whether there is evidence of corruption, abuse of office or other serious dishonesty in VI public offices in recent years, political pundits have since referred to the Inquiry as a fishing expedition with a mission to allow the UK to take control of the territory's affairs.

The sun has set on the British empire. It must and will set on colonialism and all its forms.

After centuries of such, many have had enough. Many want and are expecting their complete human freedom to be an expected quantity and reality.

You who are planning for, seeking and asking for full British rule and take over should/must realize that, you do not hold the monoply on how others think, nor do you own or control their lives.

Many ant freedom from colonialism and the arrogant brit, that they may move on tolive a free and non-colonial life.

In the UK they put off their COI on the Covid-19 response saying that now is not the time as it will hamper the running of government in helping the UK people during the worse pandemic in 100 years. Yet in the BVI the same UK launched a COI during Covid. This clearly shows that the UK thinks nothing of us. This is why I can never support this predetermined COI staffed with UK persons from the same office that supported the Governor in calling it. There will be no fairnes

CSC please move to Sombrero island out in the middle of the Anegada Passage to avoid the UK takeover of the BVI. You can become a refugee, open a IT store and start a church. You may even become the Chief Minister.

Don't care much for that man, Care even less for the idea of European rule, hundreds of years with them at the head is more than enough especially when you know they are corrupt with their gains coming at the destruction of so many other societies. What is upsetting is how do we require and outside corrupt entity to clean up our mess, how is it that we don't have measures in place to fix any issues we may have with our govt.

So far it seems that there is either corruption on a large scale and has been for years; Where did all the Govt revenue go since 1990; OR there is a complete governance vacuum given the absence of records and of minuted decisions on the spending of government funds; OR there may be both. If that’s correct what else should happen? And that’s without all the narco crime

Can we all get behind the idea that everyone who defrauded the government of taxpayer dollars should go to jail? That is what CSC should be demanding.

There comes a time in life, when you have to decide, ‘The first step to going somewhere, is to decide, I’m not staying where I am’. We are spending so much time bashing the Person who delivers the message, WE DON’T TAKE TIME TO LOOK AT THE MESSAGE. The British are COMING.

Every crisis is an opportunity for Creativity. We are majoring on the minors Claude Cline, instead of ‘WHAT DO WE WANT FROM BRITAIN’.

I know some will come after my comments too negatively, and that’s OUR PROBLEM, everything is PERSONAL.

If we’re not selling something, SOMEBODY IS SELLING ‘YOU’.

You do realize this place belongs to the UK right ? If they see something unfit they will have to deal with accordingly. You can clearly see the dispute between you and the two parties not getting us anywhere. So they have to do what they have too,
Simple, even though we may not like it.
